I suspect they might just do away with the Bartolini MK1 system in favor of either more Nordstrand CND stuff or more of their own proprietary electronics like the Powerspan pickups.

Is that DiMarzio Area P and J pickups? how do they sound? I thought doing that same thing to my SR 400! BTW what preamp is in there?

Not Area P/J but Model P/J - DP126. I haven't tried the Area P/J's, but I bet they sound good.

The Model P/J sound really good - so good that I replaced them with EMG Geezers only to go right back to these. The mids are very present, so you punch through the mix in a musical way. They've got great growl as well. The adjustable pole pieces make it so you can balance everything out really well.

The preamp is an Audere Classic 3-band. The front switch (between the blend and volume) is a series/parallel switch for the P pickup. The rear switch is an 750/500/250 Hz mid selector. Audere preamps bring more clarity and the balance is stereo, so you get a true blend of the pickups.

I'm hoping for a unlined fretless with side dots only on the 3, 5, 7.... etc. The Portamento is great but I hate having both side lines and side dots on all 24 fret positions

I'd like to see an updated version of the BTB33 to match the 2017 BTBs.

I'm still hoping for an "Iron Label" BTB 5 with an ash body, 2 MM-style humbuckers (maybe even Nordstrand BigMan?), a 5-way blade switch, Volume, Blend, a simple 2-band EQ with active/passive switching and satin-finished colors.

I've wanted that for several years now, so I'm sure it ain't gonna happen.

What I'd really like to see them do is get rid of the MK1 pickups. I've never really liked the sound of them, and they only come in a 5-string size. If you get a 4-string bass with 5-string pickups it makes it a pain to find replacement pickups. I would have liked to see them have BC shape/size MK1's so I could swap them out for Nordstrand Big Splits without getting custom ones made.

@Aidil said on the Ibanez thread that Ibanez will replace the SRFF with a new SRMS (multi-scale) line. Of particular note is a new version of the monorail bridges that enable some spacing adjustment. Aidil is in Indonesia; I don't know if they have reason than that to have inside information. If that's true, I'd love to see these bridges on other basses.

My own speculation about the SRMS is that it will have a more extreme fan, like the Dingwalls and other recent FF/MS bases.

unfortunately, the new SRMS series (SRMS805-BTT/SRMS805-DTW/SRMS806-BTT) still have the same fanned settings as previous SRFF series (i.e. the 5 string is 34-35.5 inches scale).

IIRC, no zero fret for the Multi Scales and they use wenge for the fretboard (and it still extends after the fanned nut as previous series).

BTB33 is given discontinued status, but no info about its replacement model.

Absolutely, but an affordable Musician Bass, not that limited issue from a few years ago that listed for a ridiculous price.

That would be awesome, but an affordable one, not at $10K which @Aidil referred to in this thread.
