Now i want Ibanez to continue their good work in making extended range instruments affordable and release a low-cost bolt-on fretted SR 7 string bass, i can't afford the BTB 7 string.
I see from a photo the fretless board is a little higher than the frets, it's because there is a .045 (fretless) next to a .105 (fretted) so this is needed to keep the tops of the strings level across all 7.

Keep your eye on Ebay and Reverb. BTB7s do come up once in a while. I bought one on Ebay for $700 for instance. Guitar Center used online also gets some in. You could also check Reverb.com for the Korean made Wolf 7 string basses. I have played them before and they are nice and in the $600 - $700 range new.
Has anyone found or measured the dimensions of the BH2 pickups on basses with different numbers of strings, particularly the 4-string? The pickups are visibly different lengths in photos.
I picked up one of those and played it for about 10 sec. my fingers weren’t even long enough to reach the fretless portion of the neck lol
I absolutely loved the first iteration of the Ashula, yet really dislike this one.
yeah, the Ashula isn't everyone's cup of tea...
but the real question is, would you buy one even if the first edition of the Ashula were available in front of you?
My guess is, it depends on how much purchasing requests were received from their worldwide distributors when they displayed those new Affirmas at NAMM. Maybe there weren't enough requests...? Or maybe they're just gonna keep them for next year...? Don't know for sure.
