Yes. That was @Aidil . Also, Ibanez showed the BTB865V at Bass Player Live, but it isn't shown in the US catalog. (It was shown in the European catalog shown earlier.) I'm hoping it will show up in the US soon.

the new AFR line was being offered to worldwide distributors, just as the prototype pic I had shown earlier on this thread... maybe there were not enough requests to make them into final production line.Didn't someone say they were reissuing the AFR / Affirma line, or a variation on it? Did I miss something? Hallucinate it?

Size wise, the MK pickups have the same dimension through out the number of string models, whereas the BH2 pickups have different dimensions in regard to their string numbers.I'm sure liking the look this new SR, but what is the difference between the BH2 Barts vs the MK1?

These are the info from Bartolini website regarding the BH2 pickups replacements:
BTB845SC - 5 String - Can be upgraded to Bartolini-Made MK5CBC, MK5S, MK5C, or MK52J.
BTB846SC - 6 String - Bartolini does not yet offer upgrades for this pickup shape.
BTB740 - 4-String - Bartolini does not yet offer upgrades for this pickup shape.
BTB745, BTB845 - 5 String - Can be upgraded to Bartolini-Made MK5CBC, MK5S, MK5C, or MK52J.
BTB746, BTB846 - 6 String - Bartolini does not yet offer upgrades for this pickup shape.
BTB747 - 7 String - Bartolini does not yet offer upgrades for this pickup shape.
Internally, MK1 consists of split coil pickup in reverse P configuration... whereas I suspect the BH2 to be full blade dual coil (haven't owned one with the BH2, so couldn't make sure of it, but I own couple basses with BH1 pickups which are full blade dual coil pickups)... and I'm pretty sure their voicing are different.
And so far, BH pickups are proprietary to Ibanez, as they were being developed by Bill Bartolini together with Ibanez's top engineers, whereas the MK1 are being used by Ibanez as well as other brands such as Lakland and Cort.
I can only speak the sound difference between the BH1s and the MK1s... as I use BTB685SC, which has BH1s, as my main beater in the last couple of years (and also have another bass with BH1s), and I also use SRF705 which came with MK1s (and I used to own a couple of other basses with MK1s).Thanks for the info.
I guess what I'm asking is in the sound difference. I love the sound the MK1s put out with nice bright highs, very deep lows, and no overpowering mids - so how would the BH2s compare with regards to the highs/lows?
In looking at the 2018 models some of the new paint jobs look interesting.
But I’m really hoping Ibanez does a U.S release of the SR300E in Pearl White.
Anyone know when the 2018 SR300E ‘s are shipping ?
I called all the major Ibanez dealers and they can only say “expected soon”
Cheers

they were talking about the BTB747 which actually was released last year but this year gets new fretboard due to CITES since last year built had rosewood board.^ They said there was a 7-string coming out so I checked, and sure enough ... a 7-string BTB.

they release Talmans with maple fingerboard for 2018:I am curious to see the new Jabota fingerboards, also the necks with Purpleheart in them
But NO MAPLE FINGERBOARDS![]()
