Tom Brady doesn't win games because he's physically better than anyone on the field and he doesn't have the most gifted mind of any NFL QB.
Similarly, Belichick doesn't possess coaching abilities no other coach has.
If either of those were true, they'd never lose a game.
What they both have, as well as the rest of the organization, is an understanding of the game and team play that escapes these other teams. It's not about having the best players with the most money and coolest Instagram feeds that make records and movies when they aren't playing.
Owners and GM's keep shelling out the big bucks for that crap and when the season comes down to the final game, those flashy guys are usually watching the game like we are.

There have been a few who walked away like he did. Good for them. At some point, they probably have enough money, and their brains are intact enough that they can go on to be normal people and live normal lives. The rest of us get by without $10m/year contracts, and those who walk away are young enough to do just fine in other fields. Actually, when you think about it, if you are a football player and retire in decent health at the age of 30, you have more than enough time to have a long career beyond football. A friend just graduated from law school at the age of 36.

No different than Jagger and Richards still touring, and not making their bassist a band member, despite him being with them for a quarter century. They aren't leaving a possible nickel on the table, despite having more money than some countries.

It's interesting that the betting money has the AFC South, after the Luck and Miller fallout ( and lets not forget Clowney ) Looking like this;

Jacksonville Jaaaaaags
Houston Texans
Indianapolis Colts
Tennessee Titans

My thoughts:

1) Jacksonville has never failed to not live up to preseason Hype. They have all the talent but can't seem to figure that whole "winning" thing out. If they played as well as they talked they'd have several SB's under their belt.

2)Houston has a good one in Deshaun. Too bad his coach is so inept. Watsons blind side now belongs to Matt Kalil. Good luck with that because with a player who was WORLDS better than Kalil Watson was laid out 62 times last year.

3) Indy keeps being lauded as having one of the best O-lines in the NFL. 2 years ago it gave up 52 sacks. Jacoby Brissett was under center.

4) The Titans are a perennial .500 football team. They can get rid of the Fish, but they can't shake the 8 and 8 curse. As always 8 and 8 can win the AFC south. The Titans defense has a buffet of QB's to feast on in the south and their defense was good the last few seasons and got better this off season with both talent and leadership. Maybe the Titans can finally beat Indy.

There are Luck fans who just don't get it. I get it. Imagine that terrible O line Luck had to play behind until last season. Imagine the concussions, the knee and ankle injuries, the lacerated kidney and abdomen injuries.
They're nothing compared to not being able to satisfy your wife because the painkiller (opioid) leaves you with less fire in your desire. The man is recently married with a child. I do not blame him for wanting to step away from football in order to have a better quality of life. He may be back but for now allow him to recuperate. If I was on a painkiller or any med that left me wimpy and limpy I'd want to get the hell away from it too.


Now....
Last week Wednesday I had DirectV removed and AT&T Uverse installed. The customer service rep that processed my order told me I would keep all my current DTV channels and gain a few more.
Imagine my surprise when the tech who did the changeover left after giving me a channel directory that showed me the NFL network channel and after attempt after attempt the genie couldn't take me to the channel.
AT&T which owns DTV does not have the NFL network anymore even though if I had remained a DTV customer I would have it and the Red Zone channels.
AT&T and DTV are the same company with two doors. How can the parent not share the same benefits of the child?
I miss football talk every morning.
I switched from DTV because in a heavy rain and snow you might as well go to your library and get a book.

Put an offensive line in front of either of them and they will be fine. Get them killed and they will get killed. Kyler Murray doesn't have much more to hide behind than Rosen did last year, so far as I know.

Russell Wilson is "small" too. He hasn't missed a game or a practice. He missed one play, so far as I know. Whoever his backup is won't have much work if that keeps up. Drew Brees isn't very big, either, and he seems to have lasted a while. I don't remember how long Fran Tarkenton lasted.
