2021 Bass Acquisition Round up

Peavey Fury, used off GC online, purchased in November - yes, I was the guy that snagged it.

I managed to drag my feet long enough to NOT buy 4 different 6ers offered here in the classifieds. Any one of them would have been a good choice. I came very close twice. I’m not a tire kicker; I just ruminate over every detail just a tiny bit longer than those of you who purchased them!

I also missed what would have been a local pickup on a gorgeous Stingray Special 5, simply by eating lunch first before writing to the seller. I should’ve just gotten in my car.

I’m “repenting” by actually playing the fine instruments I have. (But I watch the classifieds every day!) :)

Bought a bit too much gear this year, but "only" three basses. A double bass by violin luthier Leon Christiaens from 1991 with which I'm super happy. And two basses you might think are more or less identical but are most definitely not: Sadowsky MetroExpress JJ 4 and 5, both in green.

This being the last day of 2021 I thought I'd post my bass acquisitions for the year. I invite you to do the same even if you already sold any of them. Please post pix if you can.
Happy New Year, Y'All!!!!

the cam isn't doing those Peavey's due justice! you sure know how to find the sweethearts, those are dream pieces. can't help but be envious even tho I'm over it all with the 2 missing links I found this last year for a grand total of $230, a lonely Ibby TR-50 imitating all my P bass ideals, and the bolt-on Epi T-Bird Std. IV. glad they finally came along, now to find 2 dozen deserving local homes for the wall hangers lol Happy Hunting New Year 2022!

I definitely over indulged in 2021. Fortunately, all of them were very good deals as I bought them used or on some crazy sale.

I'm not too worried though as I could probably get all or most of my money back should I have to sell them, Heaven forbid! :crying:

I don't plan on buying anything in 2022 unless it's an absurdly good deal. I have a friend that has an Ampeg B210 he would probably let go for around $250. I think that qualifies, but I'm pretty set on amps.

It has been a big year for basses for me. Bass was my original instrument and played it for 15 years. Then I had been pushed to guitar and keys for various reasons for 15.

Felt the pull of bass in my relative solitude of the pandemic. Got a new group together. But I only really had one bass suitable for the new project, as two were fretless one 200% metal.

Failed experiments in 2021:
Sterling Ray34 — just not versatile enough, got a Ray 34hh
Lace Helix —attracted to it because it was weird…it didnt sound weird enough
Warwick 5 string Corvette….I am still knocking the dust off 4 string…my muscle memory is a bit hardwired though. Maybe some day,

Got and keeping
Some Warwicks

Just one, second one of my own, first "actual" bass. I built the two string CBG a few years ago, the Epi is long term loan, and....not good. The Mikro was $100 from the list of craigs. Promptly taken apart, de-glossed, replaced pots and the J pup, new black bridge, oiled neck, and started learning setup. Quite happy with it, BazzBuzz lessons started, just got black tuners, GZR's on the way.
Actually a drummer, bought the bass to help the wife learn bass lines on our digital piano. Got the amp for $230 so she didn't have to tax the PA and any visiting bass player doesn't have to haul theirs. Got bit by the bass bug. It's all for me now! First day with it's new family.
