2021 Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass

Seen it! Great as always. That is so devastating. It seems like a complety other bass than mine. I am way too bad to mod my own bass, but out of the box, mine had no grounding issues and the preamp is versatile and good working.
I really use no filters on my DI in my review vid and on my Rush Cover I only have a bit of compression. How strange!

I think this speaks to the QC more than anything. However today I'm filming the "fix" video where I take it apart, shield everything, and see if we can bring down the buzz wish me luck!

At the end it's a Fender. Bad QC is to be expected there.

I plugged him in right now. And it only gets a brief hum, when I turn the treble all the way up and the rest down. So nothing out of the ordinary.
When I take my videos I alway sit just less than a Meter away from my PC, its monitor, my mobile phone (that's my cam ) and my amplifier. So my Charvel would buzz like the queen bee hive, if the wiring would be shoddy.

I just shot the 'fix' video. The paint in the cavity was so spotty, and the pickup and control cavity shields didn't even connect... The bass is now dead quiet after full copper shielding, connecting the shields, and grounding the shield.

My red 5 string finally arrived at my local dealer on Friday. I tried it out right out of the box, and I was very impressed. The neck is very similar to my American Elite Fenders-extremely comfortable. No buzz or noise from the preamp, and the setup was decent out of the box.

They're setting it up with "my" strings (DR Black Beauties) on Monday, so I'll be picking it up either tomorrow or Tuesday after work and bringing it home. So for now, here's a pic of it on the bench right after it was unboxed:

Dammit....I ordered a blue one, and it should be here early next week. I do plan on doing some mods to it - Babicz bridge & EMGs (sacrilege!!) but at this price point I don't feel too guilty about bending it towards my will a bit, so to speak. I will report back here once I've got it where I want it.

Thank you! I'm lucky to be in a position where I don't really have to care about stuff like that very much. As a former regular consumer, stuff like this would drive me batty. However, I'm much more in the mindset of buying/selling and deal hunting for the purpose of making videos and getting rid of the bass afterwards. As long as it's something that I can correct (and make content correcting), I'm ok with getting an instrument like this Charvel. However, shipping damage or faulty parts make for a prompt return unless I am able to get replacements and/or a discount. I definitely still have to empathize and think about how other people who are buying this as 'their bass' would feel, and you're absolutely right that a $900 bass shipping with these flaws is unacceptable.

Yeah, I can definitely see it from your perspective but for someone random buying this and receiving a lemon like that? In most cases it would either result in the bass being brought to a shop which means spending even more money or just straight up return of the item. I don't think most people would be able to shield the electronics, me included

I'd rather them spend their budget on good wood vs. a cheap bag. And the wood does seem to be pretty darn good so far. Once I got it dialed in, the feel of the neck is just fantastic!

Nice! Oh how you have cleaned up that terrible stock spaghetti mess that inhabited the cavity previously. Well done! I have no idea how a bass could come out of the factory like that stock. EMG rules!
