2022 Bass Acquisition Round Up

These are my 2022 additions to the bass family. From left to right:
Warwick StarBass - this is a one off from the Warwick Show Room and was built for a convention.
Spector NS-6 XL - absolute beast. I only got this a weak ago and haven't had too much time with it, yet. But the build quality and sound are just ridiculous.
Gibson Les Paul Standard from '93 - 12 lbs of pure awesomeness. This bass might be a boat anker but it sounds killer.

My Eastwood MRG was ordered in September 2022 and was due to arrive in December 2022, but has been pushed back to January 2023, so that is not in the list.
It would seem I've only bought 4 basses this year (none of them Thunderbirds?!
), all of which I still have.Starting the year off right, I got my black '89 sr885le in February, followed by a trans-black '96 SR1200, apparently a day later
The month of May was also productive, starting early on with a Squier Affinity Jazz bass in Burgundy Mist Metallic, and ending with another sr885le, this one an '88, in Sunset Red
Everything bass-related I've bought since has been either for bass upgrades/repairs, or has been amps & cabs.

Had two tortoise spare pickguards (red and brown); exchanged original black, for red one.
On next months wanna try somenthing different, like white, cream, mintgreen.

I like that red!
I've been waffling on what I want to replace the black with, so far I've only decided on something that is not a plain solid color
This was my only bass acquisition for 2022; got it last week. USA Spector w/Doug Wimbish neck option (1.5" nut width) + slim front to back profile option, in Haunted Moss finish.

Wife here. But I don't bother her about what she buys with her money, and she doesn't bother me, as long as we're each being responsible and paying our share of household expenses and saving some money.
Of course, I get the occasional eye roll and shaking head when she asks, "how much did that one cost" and I reply with, "you don't want to know"

I added two Spector 5’s in 2022. I have barely played anything else this year!
Great move … I ordered a custom fretless from Scott ten years ago and have bought/sold other basses since but never this one. Fantastic luthier
Thanks for being a gentleman! I was feeling a bit peevish and perhaps a bit envious. I do indeed have a very rich life. Wife of 38 years, 3 grown children all doing great, 1 grandchild who is a joy.

I started playing bass in mid 2014 with my ukulele group, only because I discovered all the bass ukes available, which led me to doing all kinds of modifications and even conversions of short scale guitars. Rather than pick out the ones I bought and sold this year, here are all my basses since 2014, most of which I let go of this year, with the current six in the box, five obtained this year.
Thank you! I love this bass. It was the first of the three I got this year and I didn't want to put it down. It plays great and sounds amazing. And it's pretty versatile, too. Especiallyfor a passive instrument. Best thing, I got a 67% discount on it because it's from the show room, but it's basically new.
