Looks like someone was busy! :bassist:Some nice axes!
Yeah, I'm finally to the point that I've decided if I get any new basses it must be a trade, or I have to sell one. All my basses are for playing, none are collectable.

For my last two acquisitions this year, I sold one to get the Fury, and I traded for the Starfire.

A lot of TBers like to say they are done, or slmost done, with GAS. I don't know how well most do with that, but I'm going join in with the chorus and say that I feel like my GAS is decreasing. We'll see how this year goes.

not a bass but,

i had this little flat top mandolin built by the violin maker who made my upright bass.

it's one of my favorite instruments i've ever touched. such a vibrant rich sound. anytime i pop open the case, hours go by because it's just too much fun to play.

it's also wonderful, after decades of making other music work on a bass, to be able to play violin-register repertoire without having to do any backflips to make the arrangement work.
Played, mate! :D That's absolutely lovely!

Well, guys, this time last year I resolved to buy no gear in 2023. As the picture below shows, I am a base man and an abject failure.

IMG_1407.jpeg

Highway 1 P (8 lb 1 oz)

StingRay Classic 5 (limited “Sledge” color, but alas no COA)

KK Baby Bass (mostly for my son’s jazz quartet to rehearse with)

Birth Year P (1966) with MJT faded fiesta red refin and Spitfire tort (my dream come true; the one I’ll grab when the house is on fire)

Impulse-buy Custom Shop ‘55 P (7.75 lbs!) with a cream guard I made and a stinger stack I put in

Epi Jack Casady I got off CL, with my tuner/strap post/knob mods. (IYKYK, and now IK)

(Not pictured: Gretsch jazz box, about $5k worth of microphones, some mic pres, Avid S3, and assorted software instruments and drum stuff.)

Don’t get me wrong. Two of these basses I absolutely adore, and a couple of them fill nice niche roles in my musical household. But I am a disappointment to myself and others, and this is the sofa bed in the studio where I’ve been sleeping:

(Because my wife has covid, you buncha sillies!)

Had to go back through my pics to figure it out…

A few Peavey USA Millenniums…Tiger Eye 4 and 5 Plus are still here, Black Violet 4 Plus, although beautiful, is gone (neck had stability problems). Acquired a NOS Millennium Tiger Eye 5 Plus unfinished body and finished neck that is still waiting for…something.

Fender Sting MIJ Precision (sold)…

Lakland US 55-14 (no pic)

Lakland US 55-63 (sold)…as is the Spector Euro4 LT in the same picture

And, just making the cutoff…Spector Euro5 LT Teal Glow Chuck Levin’s Limited Edition…bought from Guitar Center’s used site on Saturday, so now begins the wait to see if it’s amazing (a few, IME), or a turd (also a few, IME). I actually love the crapshoot of Guitar Center’s used section…I’ve gotten 2 of my nicest basses for good/great prices from GC Online. I’ve also ordered basses in “excellent” condition that could have been delivered by Jim Carrey in Ace Ventura, Pet Detective. Totally worth the ~$25 in shipping to say…”uh, no thanks…”. Looking forward to checking this one out in a week or so…
