210/410 to 610

Last week i played through a peavey headliner cab setup with a 410 and 210 together. I thought it sounded amazing. They are sealed cabs with no tweeters and i thought the setup sounded just like a good 810. The total price of the 2 cabs togehter was $500. I dont think any cab in that price range would come close to this setup. I highly recomend this setup for both portability, sound and price.

For it to work evenly between the 2 cabs, the 410 should be an 4 ohm cab, and the 210 an 8 ohm cab. This gives equal power to each individual spkr, but then the amp must be able to handle the lower load, (2.6 ohms) Otherwise, the 210 gets HALF the power, and the 410 the other HALF. This should be an obvious mis-match to anyone. Not saying it would sound bad, just imbalanced, and stressful to the 210.

Both of the mentioned cabs are 8 ohm giving a total load of 4 ohms. Yes, the 210 would be recieving as much power as the 410 but it did sound good and i figured the 210 wouldnt be working any harder than the speakers in a single 410 anyways. I thought i could change the speakers in the 210 to two 8 ohm spekers in series making it 16 ohms which would balance the power out between all 6 speakers but it worked so well anyways i realized it wasnt necessary.

what are the peavey cabs called?
I've been thinking about finding some sealed cabs to try.

just looked-- they're also the headliners. And both are 8 ohms, which is not ideal for this application, even though the site encourages it!

I currently have a 4x10/2x10 setup for use with my SVT 2-pro. Both 4 ohms (2-ohm total). The rig sounds fantastic as is, and I am considering changing the 2x10 to an 8-ohm to drive all speakers with the same power...but I too wonder if it is really necessary, being that each cab will get a maximum of 150 watts (300 watt head).

Yeah, I was planning on making the 210 an 8ohm load, and the 410 a 4ohm load. I didn't know how many of you all actually run a rig like this, how happy you are with it, and any possible pics of these type rigs? I ask cause I'm looking into a possible Carvin rig of this configuration, and didn't know if the 210 on top really makes that much of a difference.

I'm planning on buying a Bag End D10BX-D (210, 4 ohm) to match my Q10BX-D (410, 8 ohm) and make a 610 with. I'll be adding a switch to the 210 for 16/4 ohm operation so I can use it with the 410 and get equal power to each driver in the 610 stack or just as a standalone at 4 ohm and pull full power from whatever amp I choose to pair it with.

It does. You're adding 50% more speaker area and about 50% more power to the equation. It also brings speakers closer to ear level which makes a big difference in you hearing yourself and what your tone actually sounds like to everyone else.

i have a 4x10(8ohm)-2x10(8ohm)-2x10(4ohm) at times i run the 2-2x10s. but recently i have done the 4x10+2x10. since the 4x10 is 8ohm and the one 2x10 is 4ohm is doesnt matter to me since im running a carvin bx1500 with dual mono block 750watt 2ohm amps. i can put the 8ohm 4x10 on amp 1 and the 2ohm 2x10 on amp 2 and just turn the 4x10 volume up or down to match the 2x10. since the amp is 2 ohms a side i can still run the other 2x10 and even my 1x15 if i wanted.. lol gotta love those 2 ohm amps. =)

I'm bumping this because there's a part of me that wants to show off my "new" 610 setup. Which way does it look meaner? (Don't count the bass against the rig in picture 2!)

I think it looks like a giant domino in the second picture, but maybe it's me. :D
