Cool. You'll have enough duratex left to do plenty if other stuff. If after it's all together you feel it's a little shy in the bass, making the port a little shorter will bring the bass up but don't go less than about 4 to 5 inches. Minor tweaks there, may or may not even be needed. Sounds good....you're done.

Probably wait until you play on it for at least 20 or so hours before making any final adjustments. New speakers need time to break in. Suspension loosens up, sound smooths out, lowend comes in more.

You can break it in all at one time by hooking it up to a stereo or something, turning the bass up and letting it play overnight if you can stand the noise.

Where the port comes out the front is part of the total port length so if you have a 7" shelf inside the box the total length of the port would be 8-3/4" or so putting the tuning in the low 40's or so. When the speaker gets here try it that way and try it with a 4" shelf inside the box. That'd put the total length at 5-3/4" or so tuning it closer to 50hz or a little bit under. Pick which one sounds best to you. You're not going to hurt the speaker with either tuning. Just changing how much low bass there is compared to the rest of the sound.

I modeled the cab at 3.0 cu. ft. with a tuning of 46 hz and came up with a 19" X 1.5" x 8.75" port. Any way you look at it these are estimates so who know exactly what tuning it will be?

I'm a little lost in some of those measurement posts too but if it comes out between 40 and 50hz he can tune it by ear from there without hurting anything. Somewhere I came up 3.39 then wildass guessing the guts to put it 3.2 - 3.3 but that don't mean it's dead on. He will be close either way and that speaker is pretty forgiving until you get way off base with it.

Sounds like a great project and I'm sure you'll love this little cab. I think your guitar player will be surprised.

On a side note...if you use the Speakon jack and not the 1/4" jack, be sure to plug the 1/4" jack hole. You shouldn't have any air leaks. Be sure to gasket the speaker, handles, jack plates, etc. too.

Looking forward to seeing the finished cab.

You're welcome. Yeah, the only air coming out should be through the speaker and the port. Anywhere else is a problem. The bigger the hole the worse it is to where it can even make it's own audible sound. Of course the biggest issue is diminishing the cab's potential.

This I can't understand, I put bondo on the cab it was out on my front porch, I put the board in for the port. I left to go to work came back home after 8hrs,and someone took my cab. My wife has been in Kansas with the grandkids so she don't know. I live in a rural area, I've even called the cops. Who would want it, don't that blow your mind. I will keep you all posted.

Now that's about a lowlife thing to do. Scumbag's lucky someone didn't catch them in the act. We can shoot people down here for less. I bet you anything it's at a pawnshop somewhere or thumping away in someone's trunk. Likely traded it for a hit of some drugs or something.

Well crap. You handy with a saw? If all the components are ordered you're a sheet of plywood away from having a cab built purposely for that speaker. The one you had was a pretty good fit for it but you could do little things like change the footprint so it "looks right" with your markbass sitting on top of it.

Most don't...some do....enough so there's one in your neighborhood....or at least driving through looking for split second opportunity.

I figure that worth about a kneecap or so. Maybe a knuckle or 2 if he ain't sorry for it. :)

Resurrecting this thread to see whatever became of this.

Fred, I have an old 115 cab here if you're interested in refurbishing another. It sort of tall and skinny. External dims. are 19 wide x 16 deep x 32 high. Internally it comes to 4cu.ft. net but the way the speaker hole and ports are laid out you could saw about 4" off the bottom and about 3" off the top to bring it down to about 3.1 cu.ft. 3.25 - 3.5 would be a good fit for your legend. It has two port holes that 4" I.D. schedule 40 hammers into snug to make tuning it easy. The original manufacturer was called PAS but it's just a raw cab no speaker or hardware or anything. It's 5/8 or 3/4 plywood...solid but not too heavy. Not looking to get rich man, talking like a party favor... 12 pack or something.

Anyway if it's something you're intetested in...or I could give you some pointers on a raw build that would look like it was made for your MB combo.

Or if you could locate the thief I wouldn't mind stuffing him in it and kicking it down the street either. :)
