29 Pedals EUNA - baked-in EQ?

Yes, it is. I do like it and the tone it provides.
And I completely fell for the desciption provided as I lack the competences to analyze it myself. And also TB could not really help.
I would have preferred an honest description though. My intent was buying it for an improved signal quality and given the changes in tone I assumed my signal path must have been not that great despite all the effort that went into it.

Also, if it is as you say, that devaluates other gear as the tone gets sweeter with the new "buffer" meaning that other buffers must be inferior.

So according to this, the EUNA should be the very first thing I plug my bass cable into. So I'm looking at: Bass -> EUNA -> UT&T Lab compressor -> Peterson mini -> Thumpinator -> Noble -> FOH/recording interface. Sound about right?
 
I've looked as well for more information beyond "It's a buffer" with no luck. I got more information from building a clone. It really is more of a tone sweetener that is being touted as a buffer which I think undersells the device and certainly helped create rancor towards the marketing and cost of "just a buffer".

However, no one seems to share more info on the device most anywhere on the intertubes and when building one out of decent parts my tone sweetened up too. I am to understand that it is named EUNA more or less, sort of kinda after the unity amplifier that it is? However, the company markets it as a buffer instead of a tone sweetener and then gets very close to or crosses over into audiophile marketing in people's minds. That helps many equate that kind of talk with empty hype and silly snake oil.

It's too bad. The EUNA is a really nice sounding device.

The first minute or so of this video is the best attempt to demonstrate what the EUNA does that I've found. It's done with a guitar, unfortunately.

It was ranked pretty high on this comparison. Got dinged for the price and size.
I recently bought a clone from RCO Pedals, and the sole reason was the original is too big, has an effects loop I don't care about, and has some fancy power input I don't need. I bet 29 Pedals could move a lot of these at still a nice profit if all they offered was the buffer circuit with the three switches in a normal pedal-sized enclosure. I just don't want something that's unnecessarily big.

I haven't messed around with it enough to have much of an opinion about what it does.

Indeed. Americans have incredibly short memories. I’m surprised he didn’t at least rebrand to hide it. I do think he must be making as much from YouTube as his pedal business, the parasocial capital is strong. That’s the main way JHS got where it is today too, and I feel like he’s more or less trying to follow that lead

Looks like you keep all the switches off?

No, the board was not powered in that photo :)

However, I usually have as few pedals active as possible. Always on - for obvious reasons - is the Caveman and the EUNA as well as the Thumpinator (underneath). Usually I add mild compression with the Cali76 and harmonic flavour with either the Jelyfish, the FPT or the PricklyPear. Ant that's pretty much it.
The rest is optional if needed, for example a little BP2 highs and lows to spice up a passive P-Bass.
The board can go pretty far though including a CabSim and 2 FX-loops (after comp and after EQ).

Here's the schematic:

I forgot to state earlier that the input impedance of both the EUNA and the Skeptical Buiffer is 3.3 MΩ and not 1 MΩ (or lower). R1 is a 3.3 MΩ pulldown resistor. That alone should help with the 'air' or 'sparkle'. That is also why they suggest that the bass is to be plugged into the buffah first.

Around these parts I call the Skeptical Buffers my 'sparkle boxes'

Also, how abut the EUNA. Do you ever engage the switches on the pedal? Or, are they always off for a clean tone?

Just trying to understand this. Does the bass do well with 3.3 MΩ? AI tells me the bass wants 500kΩ to 1MΩ? Wouldn't 3.3 MΩ be to much? Or probably I'm just not understanding that very well?

Switches are always off. I use the EQ options on the board. Sometimes I flip the switches just for pleasure when noodling around as they do add something, but for recording I prefer something I can reliably understand and modify if needed.

Hi! The concept here is that the bass is forced to deliver it's full electrical signal because there is no to minimal load on the EUNA/sparkle box. The bass at 1M Ohms has less resistance than the EUNA at 3.3M Ohms. This matters mostly with a passive bass and not one with an active preamp because then the load is non-existent. However, the EUNA still makes pretty sparkly sounds with my active bass so I surmise that there is also some filtering going on in there too.
