2x15

Low Down Sound 2x15. Custom to my exact specs and about 6 week turn around time or less! Also Don is the nicest and most knowledgeable guy around.

If you can find one of the old Mesa 215's buy it. They're incredible.

I once owned a pair of Mesa Diesel 1X15 cabinets of this generation. They had a great caster system. Each one weighed 84 lbs. Understand that none of these were schleppable in an ordinary mid-size sedan. I eventually replaced them with a pair of SWR Goliath Jr. IIIs, which actually fit in the TRUNK of common sedans! (Think Toyota Corolla.) But those Mesa Diesel 15s had a sound to DIE for!

hello
I was wondering what the best 2x15 cabinet on the market is. Or would a 1x15 stacked on top of another 1x15 get the same sound as a 2x15.
Would probably get a similar sound out of two 115's plus the option of only taking one for venues that don't need both, but here's Eden's ltd. Edition 215 cab, the P1515.

It comes in either 4 ohm or 8 ohm; handles 800-watts rms both mechanically and thermally; and uses two of the cast-frame 15" Eden XLT speakers. Since it uses the XLT speakers, this cab has that built-in low-mid hump that Eden's XLT cabs are known for. It weighs a whopping 104-lbs and comes with tilt-back casters and back hand grips to make handling easier. No idea what the street price would be but it's not going to be cheap, especially since it's a limited edition.

I have not had the experience with the newer lightweight offerings. I owned an Eden D215XLT and it was an excellent cab-sold, then regretted it. I had a Mesa P1000 (115+410), then added a Mesa RR 215 (Same as diesel), but did not like it as much as the P1000, sold it. I had an old Fender 215 that I stuck Celestions in. Very nice!, Bag End S15-D x2. LOUD, lacked bottom end but sounded very good. Berg NV215, now that's a bass cab! Does it all!, I was searching for a Reeves 115- and found a pair! The 2 Reeves are prolly the most articulate, punchy and deep, very efficient- so much so that I only use 1 on our gigs. We are not a loud band. Together, they are 110 lbs, 48"-24"-17". I know, Big help here....

Best 215 ever is Electrovoice B2150m
Good luck finding one

I had the 2x15 and still have a B-115M (can't give them away).
When they came out, they were one of the best pro bass cabinets next to an SVT and Acosutic.
They sounded much better back then than they do now.
By today's standards, a TL606 with a 3015 is nearly as strong as the EV.
IMO/IME

The only 2X15 I ever owned was an Eden 215-XLT. It was incredible. Like, REALLY incredible.

12's are the new 15's
I've heard 4x8 cabs that go really deep and handle an open B string just fine, so the old adage of 15" for extended bass is not applicable anymore. It really depends more on the design and performance of the speaker more than the size.

That being said, I find the 2x12 to be the best compromise between volume and portability. IME a good single 2x12 at 4 ohms is more than enough to compete with a lunatic drummer. 2 decent 8 ohm 2x12 cabs can easily hang with a lunatic drummer and a lunatic guitarist.

I had a Powerhouse Jr in the road case. It was a BEAST. So heavy!

I have a pair of 115 cabs that each weigh 30 pounds . Very easy to carry , lightest I've ever had . Deltalite 2515 , 300 watts thermal and mechanical with a Highpass at 60HZ and don't take much power to get loud . Stacked they roar and are very clear . If I didn't build my own cabs I'd either get Subway 115s or Greenboys with Faitals . I have no gas for any other 15 cabs , I love them .

I don't have a dog in this hunt, but you are aware of hand-trucks, right? And I think the new Mesa 115's are under 40 lbs. each.
I am very aware of hand-trucks, we used several in my old band....and yes if you can buy two Mesa Subway 15's or a Subway 215 then really the world is your oyster...lots of choices (Revsound as well). Hand-trucks aside, I still LOVE being able to slide that LDS out of the back of the SUV, and pull it into the venue

It is amazing the number of great chocies out there these days that don't require sacrificing convenience for performance. I think my Mesa SW115 is an exceptional cab and clearly a 215 is double the goodness. However, my Berg CN212, two GK Neo 112 II's or Mesa PH 212 cabs have no reason to feel inadequate at least for the gigs I play with my 4 string basses.

The SW115 and 215 are remarkable cabs, but depending on your gigging needs (to include transport, voicing and volume), there are a number of 12" loaded cabs that may be more than capable of carrying a show.

I've gravitated to 15 cabs over the past couple of years, ending up with two SWR SOB's. I blew the speaker in one and swapped in a Kappalite. I loved the sound so much I swapped out the speaker in the other one as well. It definitely made the schlepping much much easier and the tone is killer. One cab carries most gigs.

That said, if money and space were no object, I'd have a 115 and a 215 (In my case a Big Bertha loaded w 2 Kappalites). While moving the 2 cabs isn't that big a deal, especially now, one light 215 is just less stuff to move.

I've had a few 2x115 rigs over the years. A few different Ashdown 115s (one in a 410 size box, and a couple in the smaller box). I also had a pair of GB Bassic 115s with the faital speakers - those were nice, and I'd actually consider getting another pair. I had a really bad experience with my builder (who is not a builder anymore).

I like a 115 and like the 2x115 set up. I don't think I would want a 215 - even if it's light and easy to move. I was able to do a lot of gigs with a 115 and always felt like the 2x115 was just a bit too big (talking form factor).
Much like a few others posting here, I've had pretty good luck with - and done most of my playing with a 212 cab. A 212 is a nice middle between a 115 and a 215.

I've been having a little gas for a pair of Bag End 15s - but also thinking of going 2x112.
Long time Berg CN212 user, but I've been using one and sometimes two CN210s lately.
