Different instruments. DB does not equal ABG.
Passive J
Passive P or P/J
Active 5 string P/J or Soapbars
Thank goodness for you! I've been playing my ABG in orchestras for the last ten years! How silly I must've looked!
You'd better let this guy know that P/J does not equal soapbars, too.
Only need one. bass GAS is done.
From Flea, to Jaco to Jamerson, this bass does it all. The most awesome tone controlséresponse ever.

Seriously? I need to see/hear that....

Double bass
Electric fretted with midi
Semi-acoustic fretless with piezo
It sure looks like it has done it all!
What year is that?
Yes. Seriously. Just like I seriously believe, after playing double bass for 13 years, that a double bass and acoustic bass guitar are the one and the same instrument.

Jazz
Precision
Musicman
Word up. Those three can cover pretty much anything.
You bow your ABG? What kind of bridge do you have on there? What kind of bowing technique do you use? I'm assuming hamfisted and up-and-down? I'm with dvh, I need to see and hear this.
