3 Way Switch for Fender MIM Jaguar.

Hey guys.

Recently got one of the new Fender Jaguars. Great bass but I was wondering if it would be possible to install a 3 way switch so that I can use the P pickups only, J pickups only or both.

Would that be possible at all, if so I would need a wiring diagram if there's one handy?

(fairly good at wiring new pickups but I imagine a switch to be harder.)

You have three controls holes, I think:

You want to change from V/V/T to 3-way/Volume/Treble cut?

You have three holes available in the controls plate, so you'll need to remove one of the volume knobs to put in a 3-way pickup selector.
Either that or wire a mini-switch into the pickguard.

Another option is to drill a hole in the bottom corner edge for the output jack & then you'd be able to use that hole in the controls plate for a treble cut knob.

Yep, it's possible. ^ That upper control plate didn't even exist when I got this bass.

Controls in the upper plate are Tone for each pup, then the switch, then to the master vol in the lower plate.
In the middle position it selects the darker tuned tone control.

Switches are easy.
