36" scale

Hey all
I recently bought an Alembic Custom Europa 6 string with a 36" scale. And am having a hard time finding strings for a bass this long with a two piece bridge.
Any suggestions?
I would prefer flat wound, but open to both

Circle K makes strings that might work, and the Fodera Anthony Jackson set might work as well.

Circle K make strings for up to a 40" scale and they're amazing, but they only make rounds.

Octave4Plus makes flats in virtually any length (up to 43" or something huge), but I've never found anyone who has used them, so I can't comment on their sound.

D'Addario claims that their super long scale strings have between 36"-38" effective winding length. Do you happen to know the distance from the tailpiece to the saddles?

Ken Smith extra long strings have a 40" wind to accommodate 35" and 36" scale basses, but their "compressors" (the closest thing they offer to flats) only come in a 38" wind.

I have a customer with a 36" alembic. We put Thomastik jazz flats on it. They are the longest at just under 40" from ball to silk.

Measure from the ball end to the nut and figure out how long you need and go from there.

I tried a set of tomastik flats that I have on my Yamaha, but they do not for a as well.

The issue I'm having its the B and E stings taper down before the nut.

With the 2 piece bridge there might be enough room.

The Extra Longs or Long Scale?

Long Scale are only 37"
Extra Long are 39.75"

They do not have a 6 string Extra Long set... You would need a 5 string super long. The High-C may be a problem... I need to measure it but I think it is about 38 and change in length...

The c shouldn't be a huge deal cause it doesn't really trapper down. I just might end up winding a bit more than just the silk

Fodera makes an Anthony Jackson 36" scale set. Worth investigating, although the exposed cores at the bridge may present a problem with an Alembic bridge.

All Fodera sets are made in extra long except for one... (5-String Ultra Light)

They are the same length as the Anthony Jackson set.

I could measure an actual Thomastik High-C... I think it is just over 38" from Ball to Silk.

It is possible that some of the silk could be removed...

The Rotosound flats are going to be the other ones that are long, but I need to check and see the length of the High-C.

If you can not get an actual Flat-Wound High-C to work, possibly a D'Addario Half-Round High-C string will have to do, no silk and as close to a flat wound as you can get for nearly the full length of the string... First fret may not be as smooth as the rest.

The other option... I am having some La Bella Flatwounds made up with a 40" winding, I wasn't going to have High-C's made but I guess I can...
