3Leaf Audio Club - Episode 2

There have been a few posts regarding this enclosure on the original '3Leaf Audio Club' thread: 3Leaf Audio Club

I kinda think it might be a mini amp enclosure (think TE ELF) I posted my reasoning behind that assumption on the old thread. Here it is:

'My reasoning behind the amp suggestion is the nearest hole is countersunk, which is odd as none of the other holes appear to becountersunk, so I was thinking 'Input'.
Then there is the hole right next to it - 'Gain'. Then there is a slight gap before you come to the next three holes - 'Bass / Middle / Treble', then there's another slight gap before the last hole - 'Master Volume'. I think it makes sense that Spencer might venture into the world of mini amplification given the success he's had with his pedals. :)

Plus you have the rounded top edges as opposed to the 'angled' edges you see on a Wonderlove / Proton / Octabvre / Vulcan etc. which makes it look more like an amp enclosure than a pedal - but that's not to say Spencer hasn't totally redesigned the enclosures for his pedals, of course!

On closer inspection, there is some detail on the top of that enclosure that is pretty hard to make out properly. Could be more holes for pots/control knobs on a pedal (hopefully a dedicated bass synth of some description!) Or it could be cooling vents for an amp! :) '

I don't think it's an amp. Maybe a preamp, but not an amp. All the holes on top appear to be for switches and pots, with the dominant holes on the face looking like 1/4" connections. It's possible he's finally run out of the old DG enclosures he had from his days as the build-shop for DG and this is his new enclosure for his Pike line. Personally, I hope it's something new for his 3Leaf line.

Talkbass used to make threads close and open new ones once they reached a certain post count. That usually drove OP's to create new threads that were often linked at the end of the prior thread. That ended when TB converted to it's current format of website.

The previous owner of the original thread didn't close that thread once they created this thread, so people have been posting to it off and on. In truth, there is only 1 active 3Leaf Thread - this one. Think of it as a Part 1 discussion, and this is Part 2.

Posted some more impressions on another thread. Curious if you guys have similar experience. Credit to @Jakeman for turning me on to this pedal. It was the perfect solution. In fact, I am now considering a Mini Octavbre and a Proton. That's how impressed I am with this company. I also like the fact that these pedals top load. That is a huge space saver for me and will allow me to run 2 octave pedals.



"The blend knob is amazing. It actually sounds like one sound and not some fuzz on top of your bass. The more I spent with it, the more I dialed it back to just a little over halfway. On most fuzz pedals, a blend seems annoying, but this one is really, really useful.

The reason is because this pedal is the ultimate pairing for an OC2 in Sub mode. I sat there and played the OC2 and then engaged the Doom, while dialing in the blend. My goal was to keep the massive sub lows of the OC2 in the mix when the Doom came on. I also was A/Bing to a mini Moog, which was really cool. The Mini Moog puts out massive low end. But I was able to get real close with the oc2 and the Doom.

Once I dialed that in, I also rolled the tone back a bit. So my tone is now set at around 11. I used a Pbass with flats so I don't have to get super aggressive, but I do think the low pass on the Doom is definitely worth messing with. It does a really nice, soft rolloff.

So then it is back to one knob for me to really tweak live, and that is the gain. I favor it either off or at 9 o clock. Pretty simple stuff, but the difference between those 2 tones is immense."

I just got the mini (prymaxe has them new for under $200 shipped right now). Going to pair that with my OC2, which will probably be my sub low and Ill tweak the mini for a different flavor.

Also got Jman's Proton, so I think my pedalboard is going to be really awesome quite soon.

Yip, gain off or somewhere between off and 9 is also my favorite (with the blend between noon and 3). Having tons of fun with it, since I bought it again. I have another distortion-y fuzz, but the Doom is the one to fatten everything up a bit when I'm feeling like it.
I have a V2 Proton and though I don't use it that often (wrong band for it currently), it's my favorite filter of the ones I played.
