3Leaf Audio Club - Episode 2

It is a lovely looking pedal though. Mine arrived a couple of hours ago:

The instruction manual depicts the pedal with Japanese characters too.

Because it looks beautiful
I think it is my favourite finish of the lot. Spencer’s new printer has been knocking it out the park: the Miami Octabvre and the Jade Doom 2 (all of the limited Doom 2s, thinking about it) too. I really like the Sakura finish though: there’s almost a fluorescence to parts of it. I think there’s something particularly cool about the Japanese version too. Spencer’s always put as much effort into the aesthetics as the sound and both always excel for me.

Dunno. Japanese folks get the company name logo in English and the controls in their language. The reverse would work well for a Japanese company selling in an English speaking one. And even this thread has shown Japanese stores selling for less than 77K yen.

Surely a bit overpriced but definitely stunning IMO.

I mean the Japanese says exactly what it would say in English. For people who see Japanese all day everyday, it's nothing special. I'm sure they would not have any problem reading the labels in English. Japanese treat English more as a visual aesthetic anyway. That's why you can find so many nonsensical sentences here. It's more about style than meaning.

All true.

Doesn't change my point. (I lived in SE Asia for 18 years and visited Japan many times, I get it).

Agreed on the Jade Doom 2. The metallic sparkle works especially well with the green ink.
Alpenglow remains my favorite of the Protons. The fuchsia has a richness and vibrancy the lighter pink of the Sakura lacks. And I prefer the font of the Alpenglow. I do love the Mount Fuji logo on the Japanese Sakura, though.

Laughable given this edition hasn't even sold out. It's been weeks since the release. Clearly demand isn't there at such a price. I could go buy one right now for less than 500USD before shipping. Who is going to pay 700USD? Reverb is just silly. People are still listing 3 Leaf stuff like it's the height of the pandemic. But it's not. The whole market has changed now that Spencer has dropped all nine batches of limited editions of 100 and has publicly announced plans to continue to do so with even bigger batches of 333.

I gotta give Spencer props. Notwithstanding the questionable antics during various drops, his timely releases as well as his focus on Doom2 for this year has honestly had a positive effect on the secondary market for buyers. Octabvres and Dooms have recently been selling here and on Reverb for considerably less than they were just last year. Or at least that's how it seems to me anyway.
