I was debating over a really cheap almost new Boss OC-5 through Amazon as a return, or trying for one of these Octavbre.
Glad I went with Amazon whilst I could, as maybe in the future these will be a bit more accessible.

In the past year he has been much more regular with his production schedule, with releases in rotation almost every month. The schedule is listed on his website and he updates it there if there are components delays, holidays, etc. Currently next Octabvre release is scheduled for July.

Two minutes... man. That's crazy. This was the first drop that I participated in as well. Missed out. Anyone know any good alternatives with that form factor?

Brougthon Subsonic is an excellent OC2 inspired pedal. For more control over tones (both dry and wet) Aguilar Octamizer is also a great pedal that is always in stock, and does the sub octave tones really well, and you can add mids to the octave if you wish. FTElettronica Sub Octave is an Ampeg Sub Blaster clone (so only 2 knobs, like the Broughton). Also good price and small enclosure, I love mine.

I was fortunate enough to get one. I had a bunch of redundant alarms set up, autofill set up in the browser, etc. and I just barely got my order through. I've been missing my Octabvre since I foolishly sold my Verdant edition last year. With the limited number of Octabvre releases, it looks like there was a lot of pent up demand.

Took me three minutes to check out and I missed it. Darn.

I really like the Octamizer tones. But I have a hard time with its tracking when using a pick. Thoughts?

Love the octamizer for all my non-synth needs. I have a comp before it and no issues using a pick.

Where is this on his website? It's a pretty basic website, I can't believe I missed that?

Didn’t try to go for this one because I couldn’t bring myself to pay $333 for a pedal that I thought looked bad, even if it sounds great. Just not a fan of the graphics on this iteration compared to previous ones.

That said, I’m surprised even the 333 allotment sold out in less than a minute. Wonder if there are any plans to essentially set up a lottery system in the future or if it will continue to be a mad F5 scramble

No lottery, just have more drops regularly scheduled through the year. He did the same for Doom 2–essentially “flooding” the market until drops lasted for more than a few minutes…most of the time. “Tools” lasted for days, but the latest “Bronze Age” drop went fairly quickly. Octabvre prices aren’t as crazy as where the Doom 2 prices were (that’s what the whole controversial “price discovery” auctions were all about…where should he focus his attention first), but I’m sure the extra chances to get one will be appreciated.

Side note: Octabvre MkIII is essentially discontinued, though. So the 900 out there is all there will be. I hope the new circuit is equally awesome (I’m sure it is!).

There’s a lot to be said about the moods of discretionary spending and timing of the drops.

Spring is often a buying season aligned with US tax return checks and post-holiday credit card bills.

I'm not sure how much this will help folks with future releases or if anyone has posted similarly, but outside of having Apple Pay/Paypal set up properly (so that you don't have to remember and input a password or address) the most important thing is having an accurate clock with seconds on it, up on a browser window... have the page you'll be purchasing from ready to be refreshed with a click. When there's a release at a scheduled time, the seconds matter so be ready to refresh the 'shop' page as the clock turns to the scheduled time, the second it turns. The Official U.S. Time | NIST

Love or hate his approach to business, a cursory search of contemporary “bass player” orientated media (Scott’s Bass Lessons, etc) on YouTube talking about his pedals would indicate to me that demand would largely outpace his supply.

Fun math. 333 pedals at $333 = $110,889.
Certainly not implying this is profit or anything negative. Just impressed that $110K in Visa charges can roll into a small business in 2 minutes.

Yea, they’ve all been the same from what I remember: $333 + $11 shipping ($344 total). Not counting the bundled variety, which though technically were priced at $333, you couldn’t really buy them for that much.
