1. Very few if any.
2. Basically any bass.
3. Isn't necessary, you can get away with fatter b..
4. Pickups. I've found single coils to generally have weaker b string, but that's just me.

I love the old Replacements stuff, but they had kinda jumped the shark by "Don't Tell a Soul". Oh, I had a MM Sub tuned BEAD and the low B felt fine (5 string set minus the G).

As others suggested, if you are going from EADG to BEAD will will most likely need to take a needle file to the nut to get it to fit. My support for the 35" scale goes from only having to go to a .120 set instead of .130. You may have to watch out for your bridge too. The holes or the saddles may not accommodate a .130 or .135 string.

That vid does a nice job establishing that the riff he's playing sounds the same on a bass tuned EADG vs BEAD. However, he never actually plays a note on the B string. So the only thing helpful here is that the B string works just as well as a thumbrest on a four banger tuned BEAD as it does on a five string.

I have a 4 string tuned BEAD, it plays just fine at 34". I had to make some nut adjustments, eh, well that came out wrong but you know what I mean. Otherwise all is well.

The only thing I "know" about this is that you need to get a new nut put on. Beyond that, I think pretty much any decent bass could handle it. Obviously you'll need to do a full setup as well.

Just buy a 5 string and remove the G string from it

Got two ebmm stingrays. Identical except I got a new nut made and strung one bead. No big deal. Used dr hi beams only because I always used them eadg. So, no. Literally nothing special. Spend a couple bucks at a Luthier or you could just file out the stock nut a bit. Worst case scenario you break it and still have to pay for one.

Damn....just tried to string my 36" scale Andreas BEAD but the nut wont allow the heavier string. Not willing to carve up the nut. It would have been epic!! The DR lowriders I have are tapered but not far enough to effect the nut.
