5 String bass

Hi,

I have a friend who is looking into getting his first 5 string bass, however neither of us have much experience of 5 strings and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a few to look into?

The main use would be in a fast metal band.

Any help would be appreciated.

What is the budget? The little higher you go for your first bass, the less money you will spend replacing it (I am not talking about Fodera or Wal prices here)

Around £600 sterling is what he's thinking.

Also, just to point out its not his first bass but the first 5 string bass.
