5 string buckeye burl/mahogany neck through

I guess it just needed some contact cleaner for the pops, but Shawn May (a bass builder who came by today) found that the neck pickup wasn't working and it turned out there was a ground wire touching the pickup wire, so we fixed that and all's good now. Glad I had his help today!

This is Evan, you can't tell in these pictures, but he was very excited to pick up the bass today.

He's going to bring it back with his rig in a week or two and let me get a recording/video.

I took the bass photos today, might take me a while to get them edited and posted, but I will get them up as soon as I can.

Next project is going to be two 7 string guitars at the same time. They will be twins except for the top and fretboard woods. I want to see if things go smoother/faster doing it like a [very small] production with less setup time for each step, etc. I'm planning to use Formby's tung oil for the finish and no grain fill, so finishing should be easier. After that will probably be a bass or two. I think I'll probably keep going back and forth between guitar and bass like I have been so far.

I need a bit of a breather after this bass though, so the guitar builds won't start immediately like they normally do. Actually, I usually start them before I'm even done with the current instrument...
