You did an outstanding job on this. The owner looks like he's going to enjoy it regardless of his bassist scowlthat's pretty cool that Shawn May came by to help you out. I love his builds.

It was great to meet Shawn. He brought 3 of his basses with him - 1 finished and 2 pre-finish but fully shaped/sanded. They were really nice. I took photos of the finished one in exchange for a few pieces of wood that he brought me.
I realized afterwards that I'm pretty sure the bass I took photos of is one that has a thread on here.

I saw a posting where a respected guy always used outline decals only. He would wet them and transfer them to another empty decal sheet with the front side facing downward and re-stick it to the sheet. He would then let them dry for a couple of hours, and use metallic pens to fill in between the lines. He would let that dry and them wet them again and apply them right side up.
I am surprised that the front side of a decal acts exactly like the back side and will stick to a decal sheet. Anyways, it is really hard to tell from a photo - but I didn't see much difference - at least on the computer - between the metallic pen ones and the ones I printed out. In person it could be a very different story though. Just passing this along in case it is of value to you on your next one!

I saw someone post a picture of gold/silver leaf markers that they filled their decals with too.
I just put in a $650 purchase on parts for the next 2 guitars a few minutes ago, but I'm still going to take a short break before I start them.
The bass played its first show last night.
He named it "Big Wu" because people kept telling him the bark cutout area at the butt end looks like the Wu-Tang Clan symbol. Apparently people were chanting "Big Wu" during the set, haha.

Someday I will get out to one of his shows and get some video and photos, but he's not going to be playing in the area until fall, it sounds like.
The bass looks phenomenal in that shot! Don't know if it's the photographer, or the stage lights ... but fantastic work either way!

It has more to do with the bass than the string itself. Some B strings are floppy and unbalanced sounding. That bass has a fantastic B
