Perhaps changing the tone of the post to "Basses <<<I>>> would never buy" would help. It also doesn't help to blast the players of basses you don't like. Don't like the bass, fine. Calling headless-bass players douches doesn't really further your "i don't want to get banned" cause.

If ya wanna post here, ya might wanna know that several of the mods have multiple 7 and 8 string basses.

Guy, I know you think you have your pulse on what's hip, but we don't all play the same bass and/or style of music. My flashy fretless 6 string may not look right in a drunken cover band or in an indie hipster band, but I have zero desire to play that stuff.

I'd never buy a J Bass, P Bass or MM. Because they are "classics" is no reason to own them. The Model T was a classic and if it was that good everyone would still be restoring and driving them today AND they never would have gone out of production.

The difference between the Model T and those basses is that those basses never went out of production and are still the most played basses. You need to find a better analogy.....

Too many people in this thread have no sense of humor. Of course it's the OP's opinions. What is the problem with the post? If you folks are so fragile that you can't weather a little op-ed on dorky-looking basses, go hang out in the HandWringing forum. I am disgusted.

1. Basses that I cannot afford.

2. Basses that my 14 year old niece can afford.

3. Basses made of heavy metals (i.e., gold, silver or lead). I like heavy metal but not that heavy (I is old....er )

4. Basses with more than 4 knobs and 1 switch. (I get confused too easy. )

5. Basses made of glass, ceramic or stone (or any other breakable material (because it will get dropped )

On a more serious note, I can't think of an actual bass that I "should not buy". (except for reasons 1 through 5 as stated above! )

Yeah, I think we could all benefit from taking ourselves less seriously (mankind that is).

I don't mind headless basses. I'd jump at the opportunity to own a Klein bass or guitar.
I have owned some 7 strings so I have no qualms about ERB's.

On a serious note, I am 100% sure I'll never buy a "Boosty" bass (using your words ) or a Wishbass. That I know.
