5 types basses you should NEVER buy:

Geez, some of you people are touchy. If you don't like what he says then just move on. Throwing names at someone for expressing their opinion which everyone on this forum does at some point or another doesn't really make you a better person than he is. I personally don't agree with everything that's been stated but do you see me getting bent out of shape about it? Grow up people.

My problem is not with the douche-baggery of the OPs tone, but with how quickly he folded to TB. If you're going to make a troll thread about why you think you're right, at least defend your opinions. At that point there is potential for the thread to deliver.

Sorry, but this thread fails.

Too many people in this thread have no sense of humor. Of course it's the OP's opinions. What is the problem with the post? If you folks are so fragile that you can't weather a little op-ed on dorky-looking basses, go hang out in the HandWringing forum. I am disgusted.

The above, dislike of Precisions... I'm agreeing with Munji so much it's starting to frighten me. :rollno:

I think it would be entertaining (and is, pretty often) for people to list things that would disqualify a bass as a possible purchase. The basic ones are:

1) Not enough strings. Fewer than six is simply handicapping yourself for no purpose.

2) Paint. Paint is for plywood you leave out in the rain.

3) Pickguards. If you can't control your pick, it's time you learned.

These are stone obvious non-negotiable disqualifications anyone with two or more neurons to rub together would agree on. Beyond this, various woods, pickup choices, body shapes, etc. are a matter of taste. There's my taste, and there's poor taste. But I'm willing to tolerate bad taste; it's not your fault. WRONG (see above list), now, IS your fault. Get right, and do it now!

If ya wanna post here, ya might wanna know that several of the mods have multiple 7 and 8 string basses.

yeah, that'd be us, precious (me and my several other evil personalities). :D and that's ok, it's not anything i've not heard before. all of the biggest insults of my own instruments have come from other bassists, way more than anything i get from guitarists or drummers, or civilians for that matter.

Lol, I would pay to see Me'Shell NdegeOcello ripping on this

Now that is funny! Haha! Me'Shell can get up on deez. She is so no-whitey it makes me sick.

Btw, I never liked the looks of headless basses, but my Leduc has absolutely killer tone. So :spit:

Sad, isn't it? For all the mudslinging about how guitarists and other musicians treat bassists like dirt, most of the smack talk comes from other bassists... :atoz:

yeah, but it's cool - for every bassist who slags my instruments, there's like 5 or 6 at least who have gone out of their way just to say they dig what i'm trying to do, and shoot, i'm not even super-cutting edge in my playing like jean baudin or some other folks. i'll take that ratio any day :).
