5 types basses you should NEVER buy:

So, who set it in stone that the guitar in a band has to have more strings than the bass in the band? I'd say as long as the piano has more strings than the rest, I don't care how many strings the other instruments have:p
More strings to me means more notes to choose from without shifting positions. What's wrong with that (and I play a four strings p bass, by the way)?

Too many people in this thread have no sense of humor. Of course it's the OP's opinions. What is the problem with the post? If you folks are so fragile that you can't weather a little op-ed on dorky-looking basses, go hang out in the HandWringing forum. I am disgusted.

I couldn't agree more. Are bass players the most easily offended group on the planet. Are we the new victim group? Maybe we can get affirmative action and help from the EEOC?:D

I've owned three of the types of basses listed and wasn't the least bit offended, is their something wrong with me? I found the article somewhat humorous even though I just sold a Jaco bass and would defend your right to have one until the peal it from your "cold dead hands":p

And nothing against John Turner, but every time I see a bass with more then six strings I laugh. I just can't help it.

What concerns me more is this, Are Bassplayers so brain dead we don't get IRONY any more? If so we might as well just change our name to talk guitar.;)

the problem i have with this opinion is that its based on their looks. headless basses i found to be awsome for slappin, trabens are great for all around ( especially the star because you have almost complete control of your sound)

the multiple string one I agree with due to the fact that they weigh too much!!!!!!!
