$500 moving violation

If I could get a lawyer that could beat that rap I would do it.

Sure you committed a "crime" and you feel bad about it, so you accept your fate.

But in this case the punishment, in my view, far outweighs the offense.

The camera is triggered by a plate in the ground. If you hit that plate after the light turns red it triggers the camera. They have about four photos of me. There is no doubt I was in the intersection after the light turned red. I missed by about a second but that is the way it goes.

yeah, but did you know you could have easlly stopped in the available distance with a second to spare or did they have extended dual red signal and nothing much for your yellow reaction time?

I know many people who drive a car registered to their spouse/partner/ etc for this very reason.

Then who winds up paying the fine? I doubt AZ put up red light cameras to not make money from them.

Years ago here in my state they had a few of these intersections. Now my dad being old school from hell got one of these tickets in the mail with a photo of his truck rolling through the intersection.

The ticket was like $200. So my dad took $200 laid it out on the kitchen table and took a picture of the money and sent it back with their ticket and photo along with a note that said "see you in court".

Not sure whatever came of it. I should ask him. Pretty funny though.

I got out of a speeding photo ticket when they first installed those here. I went to the window to pay, said "That's not me" and the lady looked at the photo (it was me, plain as day- and you could see the straw and lid of my McDs pop in the cup holder and a half-drunk smile on my grill) and said "nope, not you" and tore it in half. I never heard from them again, so I guess it was absolved.

Before I retired I traveled a lot. The tickets I got were for exceeding the suggested speed limits on interstates. When pulled over I knew I was exceeding the limit so I just gave my license, registration, insurance card and acted pleasant. Sometimes it got me a warning, sometimes a ticket. When I got a ticket I'd get to my motel or home, write a check, mail it and be over and done with. I knew I was speeding, the peace officer knew I was speeding so why act like an ass?
