$55,000.00 Status Buzzard on ebay

The seller seems a little out of his element - if I'm spending anywhere near that on a bass, it's from someone who cares enough to post a decent description, more & better pictures & already has a delivery plan in order - not "buyer arranges delivery"...

Also, does it come with the case?

And the strings too, hopefully.

For that, honestly, the seller had best be willing to hop the next flight to where you are, carry it on, and hand it to you personally as soon as he can reach you. And drop to his knees and...well that took a turn for the worse....

The listing does seem a bit weird, just not right. For that kind of money a higher-class listing would be expected instead of one that looks like a 15 year old listed it. Also I don't know anything about Buzzards except that JE played them. But the closeup of the bass body the pickup screws and bridge posts look rusted to me. Are they copper? Bronze? Gold? Bad lighting? Rust on a 55K bass?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Serious question here from a bass newb, what is the deal with that bass ? Is it really worth anything near what he is asking or is that typo ?

While "worth" might be in the eye of the consumer, I think it's safe to say this particular bass is worth nowhere near what he's asking. If you removed a zero from the end of his price, it still probably isn't worth it. And no, it's not a typo- he defends the price in the Q&A section.

As cited above, they went for less than $6K new. John Entwhistle's personally owned status I buzzard sold just recently for considerably less, and that would be the only one anyone should pay so much for simply because it's a museum piece.

I love these threads for some reason. Whether it's the guy who wanted some ridiculous amount for a jazz bass, then went all religious on detractors, or the TB'er who tried to advertise his used parts P-bass on TB and insisted it was worth more than a new one, they just make me smile:smug:
