Just eyeballing the specs I'd have to disagree and say that if you bought all components new it would be well over half the cost. It would still be cheaper but still over half the price. The processor and video cards alone would run you over 2 grand. The HDs would probably run about 5 bills, then the 4gigs RAM, the physics card, mobo, water cooling, high-end case, optical drives and whatever other bells and whistles it would take to make an equivalent machine...yeah.. over half of that for sure.

I hadn't even noticed the revision. Thanks for pointing it out.

Anyway on to the point of this thread. To me these sorts of machines are way to far into diminishing returns to consider buying. For all of these components you could probably buy the components that were top of the line 6 to 8 months ago and pay about half.

Funny thing is, now that it's all essentially all standard PC hardware, a similarly configured Mac now costs less than a Dell.

Game consoles are for people with big flatscreen TV! Which is what I don't have. We have a 19 inch in our living room, and that's the only TV in the house.
