$5898 for a PC...

There exists no reason to bash Macs anymore. They're Intel machines now, and can do everything a regular PC can, AND MORE, FOR LESS MONEY.

The only people left bashing them now are people who don't have the money to afford a new computer...because if you've got the money, you'd be a fool not to get a Mac.

Also you cannot beat Mac's support EVER. I fried my adapter (totally my fault) they sent me a replacement next day free of charge. You call their tech support no 100 questions. It's 3 questions this is their phone service:

Welcome to Apple Support if this is a technical support issue press 1.

Please say the product you are calling for support

Is this item owned by a school.

Boom on the phone with a real person who SPEAKS ENGLISH. Apple is one of the few companies who has not out sourced to another country. Not to mention one of the only (i think it may be the only company now too) to have stores where you can bring your item in if you need support free of charge. Beat that.

Holy Shite! What's a Physical Accelerator?

*Physics Accelarator.... its just an engine which is designed to do real time physics computation. It only works with certain games, and I dont even think it really makes that big of a difference.

and its still just a dell. 1000 bucks says I can make you a better computer for less money. And whats with that X-Men thing on the side? THAT is going to get old soon. Like.. yesterday soon.

:scowl:

Must be easy to hop on such a mac bandwaggon eh?

Glad to see them putting up nice bench marks. Oh wait...

Go play with your pretty icons before you disturb the big boys...

Running windows on a mac... pathetic. Might as well put a big ford sticker on a honda.

what are you basing your "Benchmarks" on, because anyone who does any A/V work will tell you that a Mac smokes a PC any day in a work environment

Then you're an idiot.

All the new Macs that use intel (which is all of them) can run windows natively without any problems whether it be through boot camp or parallels.

You can use XP on a mac now, so that is a really out of date excuse. Try again Winblower

Can you do everyone here a favor and either grow up or leave? It's ok if you call someone an idiot, bash them, spam their thread once or twice, but if it keeps going, it gets old.

While I can perhaps see one getting offended at the"idiot" and "winblows" comments, I can see no problem with anything else he has said here. Are you saying that if someone doesn't agree with you they should leave the thread? Why? I scrolled up, and I don't believe you started this thread.

Both embryo and myself, as well as others have offered valid reasons why a Mac may be advantageous to purchase over a Dell...and that's not even counting the fact that the Mac has been the DE-FACTO STUDIO STANDARD MUSIC COMPUTER FOR OVER A DECADE.

I believe we are just trying to help people, the thread starter in particular, make an informed choice about a computer purchase. I see no reason for hostility.

What a deal!

Porcessor: Intell Core 2 Extreme X6800 3.46GHz (two cores totaling over 6.5 GHz)
Memory: 4GB at 667MHz - 4 DIMMs
Hard Drive: 1.5 TB 7200RPM (1.5 TERABYTE!)
Video Card: Dual NVidia GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB (my laptop has 512MB, hehehe)
Physical Accelerator: Ageia PhysX

H2C cooling unit! (Chemically, H2C doesn't make any sense)

That's roughly half the price of a new Fodera!

Of course, all of us know that the above system will become extinct in roughly 16 more months....

My friend has a computer almost exactly the same, except it has a 750gb HD, and its hooked up to a 42" DLP Via DVI imputs.

its pretty sexy... and playing "Crysis" on maximum res with full blown graphics will be amazing.

You want a Mac, buy a Mac. Final Cut Pro is a great vid editing program and there are a crapload of multimedia editing programs. You want a PC buy one (or build it for less if you're looking at high end gaming/multimedia... the Dell is a nice rig, but... it's a Dell. Alienware used to be a killer boutique gaming PC maker. Dell bought them.) I have great success with Finale and Reason in the electronic music classes I teach. Regardless of what you get, use it and enjoy it. Just. Don't. Be. A. PEBCAK (Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard). Please.

Consoles are great for some games, but.... A PC with current high end graphics cards will blow away what the consoles will look like graphically, and the keyboard/mouse setup is far superior to the console controller for FPS and RTS games. If you like consoles, more power to you. I love playing hockey and things like the FF series on them.
