5th Annual NoVa/DC/MD GTG - June 29, 2008

Are you full or can I join in on the GTG? I will have a cool unique custom to bring along. I would like other people's opinions. You are just a hop skip and a jump across 28 for me.

chris... i sure hope that you're planning to bring that new beast of yours (i'm assuming that it'll be finished)! i haven't commented over there, but you can see the pure JOY on your face... too bad about the splinter tho ;)

Hola!!! How are you doing? Yes, I will be bringing the beast with me. I did not want to let it go last night. :crying:
I tried to be cool in the picture, but I was soo excited to see that thing. The splinter was worth it. Yes, it will be finished. It should be done in about 2-3 weeks.
Peace,
Chris

I may be back in. I know a few youngsters that may be interested as well, friends of my kids who are players. One still in HS, one at Berklee, home for the summer. I'm doing a little evangelizing about Talkbass. I'll make sure and get you an estimate of our head count.

Thanks again for hosting, Phil.

:bawl::bawl::crying: My fiance' informed me that we will be down in North Carolina that weekend!!!!!! She and I are getting married down there on November 1st, but we are meeting with the pastor, caterer and cake person that weekend. Uggghhhhh!!!!!!!!! Seriously??????? :crying:
Sorry about that.

A better excuse than David Beckham! Sorry jkritchey!

....but if she really, really loves you.....! :D

Well, my band had a very, very good night on Friday - too bad nobody from talkbass showed up. :bawl: No, really. We had a very large very rowdy unexpected crowd, including a large contingent from a wedding. This is the second time in my band gigging career that a bar I was playing at has had a big post-wedding crowd show up completely unexpected and fill the place with rowdy partyers. What a great experience! My voice, usually barely competent, was in rare form; I wish I could sing like that all the time! The place was PACKED and my band played probably the best performance we've ever done. Good days :).

Only bad thing was that my Palaedium neck went loopy on me with all the humidity and the thing ended up being unplayable. So I played the whole gig on my Jay Turser P-bass copy. What a great little cheapy! Love it!

I had some time to kill at Guitar Center and got myself a (barely) used Fender Bassman 115 cabinet so ignore my previous requests that people bring extra cabs that you want to sell. The new one is small and light - love that. Those who have seen my rig morph over the years will love seeing this stack. :)

We're still on for Sunday the 29th. I have everyone's PM, and I'll be sending out specific directions and information in time for the event. Those of you who already know the way - see you here. If you haven't PMed me yet and don't know the way - send a PM! A couple people volunteered to bring something, that's great, I'll send you requests for goodies. We'll just have munchies, preferably non-greasy ones since our hands will be all over guitar necks.

What time was everyone planning to get together? I may be able to talk my fiance' into coming back early.
From the top post in the thread:

Sunday June 29th is the day for this DC area Get-Together, at PhilBiker's basement rec room in Northern Virginia.

PM PhilBiker if you have't already to RSVP and for directions/information.

Time will be 1PM - 6PM (or later if people want to hang out). Please bring any basses and/or rigs, high end or entry level. All would be appreciated. If you have a concert video or other bass video you would like to see or share, bring that along as well. PhilBiker's basement rec room is set up with a home theater.

I'll send the address in a mass PM in a few days.

Phil... so TERRIBLY sorry that I didn't get out to your gig, 'specially after your presence at my last bar gig! :D I so badly wanted to get there, but was busy being "Dad" that night (ok, I'm "Dad" every night, but my son had stuff to do with me). It's definitely nice when you have a good night!

I haven't gotten directions yet via PM, but I'm holding tight... I'm still bringing along my '81 Musician for folks to check out... If you NEED another amp, let me know and I'll bring something along, otherwise, I'll just be bringing the bass...

Thanks man!!!!!
:bassist:

Damn...hating giving notice that I won't be able to make it...my band has a show in Martinsburg, WV on Friday(which is fairly close to Alexandria) and then I have a local show saturday.

Sad to think I was so close...but the idea of driving for close to 24hrs over the course of the weekend sound far, far from appealing.

Sorry guys

Unfortunately i can't attend this get together, however i hope to attend some in the future. Though i've never been to one i think they sound like a lot of fun. Oh and if anyone is going to the REO Speedwagon show at Belmont this Saturday make sure you get there early! My band is opening for them at 5:30!
