Well congrats! I had the neck thru and older bolt-on version (seen in my profile pic) at the same time, but I couldn't afford to keep both so the bolt-on won out...NARROWLY though...

I've been looking into getting my first 6 string. I've put some stuff up for sale locally so soon i'll be able to get one to kind of expand upon the 5 string i'm selling. I've played some at guitar center and at some other places, and really like not having to move all over the neck, as well as having the extended range which I found really nice to be able to use. I've really wanted to get into the cool solo bass chord arpeggio stuff I see people do, as well as tapping. Not the reason I want a 6 string though, just a nice extra that would be fun to work on learning.
So if I was looking for a nice 6 string, new or used, for about $400-$500 tops, what would you suggest? Im going for a good rock/funk sound, nothing really particular. I like a good aggressive punchy sound, as well as round full punchy Zender-esque funk tone.
Being able to do the clean chords/tapping stuff would be really nice as well, so hopefully there are some nice versatile 6ers out there in this range.
I'm open to everything, and am particularly open to any good basses that happen to be purple or green. :P

Dude, there is a REAL nice Peavey TL6 for sale here in TB.

IMO/IME those basses are on par with ones costing twice as much.
They totally kill....
DON'T be put off thinking because it's an old Peavey it's not any good......

I do really like the series of BTB you kept... But one never came to any of the shops in my city, in a 6 string, and i only play 4s or 6s (I don't really want any razzing for that). However The Neck through i snagged seems pretty special to me, I have played some pretty amazing basses that only edged it out slightly in my opinion. When Ibanez does it right, they actually can be pretty spectacular, sometimes in store set ups on them are very depressing... not that Non-Ibanez basses get treated any better, I have played some nice Laklands that were set up to buzz on in first position.
