Swamp ash body with Bubinga top (matching headstock). Bartolini 3-band pickups and the first custom contoured pickup cover to match the neck radius (think that's an option now when you buy one)

I have a four string version of the same bass, but with Alder body and Myrtle top.:hyper:

Its name is "The Weapon" because I am horribly egotistical.

Next six string: Fretless Conklin Sidewinder: I am currently praying it will be less than 7 grand (it won't).

Nice bass, looks just like mine. I like it, put a good set of strings on it and it sounds and plays good. My first 6 stringer also, I've had mine for a month or two now and I haven't had a problem with it yet. I really get around to taking some pictures so I can actually join this club.

It's what Roscoe calls a Wenge Wedge neck. Here's how it's defined on the Roscoe site:

Wedge neck:
Limited production runs of this subtle but beautiful neck, where the Purpleheart center laminate is tapered from headstock to neck joint in such a way that the two Maple side pieces are the same width from headstock to neck joint, includes a volute at the neck/headstock joint, and mother of pearl R on headstock. Woods used for the accent laminate are Wenge, Figured Maple, African Tulipwood, Bolivian Rosewood and other exotic hardwoods, as available.


Wenge Wedge Neck:
Similar to Wedge neck, but with a Maple center laminate, two Wenge side pieces, and Purpleheart laminates between the Maple and Wenge. Includes volute and mother of pearl “R”
on headstock.
