6 strings in $500 range.

How do they compare to more well known brands like ibanez, dean, Jackson, ESP, etc?

I've never played a 6er by any of them, but IMO, the only element I would even consider changing is the pre... but it's good enough for me. If you like hot pups, I don't, you might want to change them to, but it would really only be an issue if you played them passive, when you lose the active EQ.

In a word, they are solid.

Sweetness. I'm looking to either pick up a brice 6er or an SX 6er. Thanks!

Under $500 the quality is the same. I agree with upgrading at least the preamp, the pickups are usually not the weak link. But I'd recommend the same upgrade on the lower priced offerings from Ibanez, LTD, etc.

Hey guys, I just recently fell into the opportunity to buy a 6-string off of craigslist. Guy says it's a "Raven" I'm assuming from Raven West Guitars. Anybody ever used anything like that, I havn't played it yet (which I know is all that would really matter on an individual bass basis) but I would love a little more info, maybe even what you think it'd be worth, because it's marked at a pretty good price.

Sure, my 2 Z6s i got as b-stocks for $249 apiece, but regular price is $449... when they are in stock.

I just picked one of these up off CL for $80. Needs new strings and a setup. Hopefully there is enough adjustment in the truss rod to get some relief out of the neck.

Same blue as in the pic. Mine is if the fretted variety. New strings are coming from Amazon tomorrow. I'll take some pics as I clean, restring and do a setup.

I have wanted to try out a six string for some time, so I'm just glad I found something on the super cheap. My only beef is that I've never liked the look of gold hardware. Minor complaint for the price.

I bought a Raven West 5 String Model RB5500 (the one that says sold on their web site) great bass, great action, great specs...but I bought it as an A and it had damage when I got it. The owner Eric, freaked out on me. Sent me 3 long emails telling me how he does not like me anymore. He gave me the $50.00 credit because it was a blemish afterall but he actually told me he did not want to do business with me...enough said??? Afterwards he apologized so I tried to buy another one and he blocked me from ebay. What a ham!!! I don't know if he'll honor my warranty (he won't after this comment). I'm pissed!

Raven West used to be pretty good yrs ago from reviews I read back then. But if he's acting like that now, he doesnt deserve business from anyone anymore.
