60th Anniversary P for only $1100?

I just got an email from a music dealer with a limited time offer on a 60th anniversary P-Bass for just $1100. While that's still a good chunk of change, isn't that a good price? I am tempted to do it.

Thoughts from my friends here on TB are always welcome...

Seems like an OK deal. IMHO, the gamble is that they are NOT an authorized Fender dealer so you get their one year warranty versus Fender's lifetime warranty when buying through an authorized dealer.

I suspect if you went into a GC with the right coupon on the right day, you could get close to that deal and get the Fender warranty.

Seems to me that it's a great deal - if they'd come in that price in Europe I would own it so hard...
Only thing I would change is of course the pickguard. I've made a custom fit tortoise one for my "vintage white" Dirnt because I just don't like the split coil PU / single coil PG mismatch.

I don't know anything about the seller or potential lack of warranty; but that's the best price I've ever seen for a new one of these. Very tempting. I know a lot of traditionalists don't like this design (modern P headstock and pickup), but it definitely hits MY hot button!

Has anybody out there been able to play one of these and check it out? I just read Brian Fox's review of it in the latest BP Mag, which got me really interested, but user reviews on the web are few and far between (and none here at TB so far as I can tell).

I bought one last Thursday. Paid 'street value' for it, and I don't care. It has the tone I was looking for in my head. I also like the way it looks, even w/o the vintage headstock. It is noticeably lighter than the Lakland Skyline 44-02 & MM Stingray SLO Special I've previously owned.

The fretwork is impeccable, right out of the box. After needing to have 5 frets leveled and several attempts at adjusting the truss rod, I still could not say the same about my SLO Special.

I got complimented several times on its tone this past Sunday at rehearsal (my first, but the 2 guitarists have been around the block a few times).

That's good to know, thanks. One significant difference, though, is that the Anniversary version has an ash body, which as far as I know isn't available on the Standard. (Of course, we could argue about how much of a difference that really makes tonally....)

So, this 60.0 version Precision is lighter-weight? That's part of what I liked about the 60.0 Tele. I have plenty of Basses.
