'63 Jazz restoration (pics!)

Great work! I've seen the work of a few very good furniture repair persons and others who deal in matters of restoration work involving instruments over the years, but given the nature of what had to be repaired, this is top quality work I must say.

the hardest part was getting the yellow area to be the correct color, with not exposing the filled in routed areas. it would look good at first glance, but it took awhile to get the yellow to 'pop' and have some depth, as opposed to being a one dimensional 'cover-up'.

Lovely job... I wish I'd kept the original bits for my 62... I would consider a similar restore.
I hear ya, man! I guess that's why it took me almost 40 years to finally get to it... nerves! It certainly has to be done with consumate skill & rare taste to get a nice result. We've all seen a few that weren't.
What I've seen of John's work has been pretty consistently on the money, and I'm very happy with the result. Thanks.
Impressive work! Congrats on your decision to preserve as much of the original finish as possible. Looks great! 
Tom and John... awesome! Tom, thanks for sharing and making the choice you did... it is awesome! John, I wish I would have seen your stuff when I did the restore on my '59, not that it didn't turn out great - it did..., but you seem to have a special touch with the 'oldies'... awesome!
John's work is really sympatico with an old instrument that does have a lot of soul. I'm very pleased with the way this finish is settling, and the new clarity to the pickups. ...touch o' magic
