'63 Jazz restoration (pics!)

I really hate it when people re-finish old basses, I find it kills the character of the bass. But I was very pleasantly surprised with this restoration. AMAZING job!!! I love it.

John is the main man for these types of things, he did a stingray for me and tweaked my jazz to perfection ,congrats on ur bass

Beautiful workmanship!! Glad to see a bass like that could be brought back to life, so to say. Because it's a '63 I can't help but look at an instrument like that and wonder what stories it could tell if it could talk.

One story for sure is of it's recent "re-birth."

well, when i played it before i shipped it, it definitely 'spoke to me', very clearly.

it somehow also told me that it was much happier now.

thanks guys.

the hardest part was getting the yellow area to be the correct color, with not exposing the filled in routed areas. it would look good at first glance, but it took awhile to get the yellow to 'pop' and have some depth, as opposed to being a one dimensional 'cover-up'.

On all of the projects I've seen you do on here the thing that amazes me the most is your attention to detail.
