My technique and approach is totally different from yours, my tone goals are totally different from yours, the type of music I listen to seems totally different from yours, and yet, I LOVED the demo. GREAT job! Cool that there are so many ways to play our instrument, and so many different approaches to tone!

Not an EB2 reissue exactly as it's a 34" scale with a modified Thunderbird pickup in the neck position. Has great thump but nothing like the EB2 in your demo. The 2014 models have a new body style which I don't care for. I have the cherry colored one shown here:

Thanks man! The many approaches is what I love too about the bass. John Entwistle, Jaco Pastorius and Paul McCartney - all marvellous players but extremely different flavors.

This was an outstanding vid, thanks for making it! I too loved the EB-2, but the Jazz was my 2nd pick. I have a Jazz; now I have to be on the lookout for something that will give me the EB-2 sound. 
That video is what sold me on a Bongo. Well, the audio sold me. The video itself is a bit....dry.
If I ever gather up the courage to post my own such comparison, I'll have to hire a beautiful woman to sit in front of the camera to offset the impact of my ugly mug.

The EB2 immediately brought to mind Felix Pappalardi's tone with Mountain. With the broken up tones now seeming to be in vogue with players, I have been wondering why so much effort is going into distorting the Fender P rather than using the EB2 configuration. Anyhow, you got that nailed; and if that's what you are going for, it's a great tone. Fits your playing style very well.
The EB13 was a new one for me. That bass sounds like it has a lot of possibilities. Very cool.
The Fender P with the distortion just isn't a sound that makes sense to me, even if it is very popular these days. Much prefer the Gibson EB2 for that thing, and the Fender P with a big clean rubber ball wump.
I still like Jazz Basses. Or Sadowsky.
Anyhow, very entertaining and well played!

Thanks! I love Mountain. Agree about distorting the P-bass. To me the P-bass has a piano or bell like quality, that realiy doesn't sit well with distortion. There are exeptions however, check out Geezer Butlers opening riff of the Black Sabbath tune N.I.B, which is heavily distorted and just great. I think he throws in a bit of wah-wah as well though.

its funny (maybe only to me) that you mention trying to get a Gene Simmons tone in the second video. My favorite bass from your first vid was the EB-13 (which I had never heard of) but it was nailing the vibe of Gene's tone from the early 70's when he was playing the Gibson Rippers.

Great vid! I really enjoyed your playing. I liked each bass for what it brings to the table. Having said that, the Gibby EB-2 was mind blowing! Just awesome :thumbup: Thanks for sharing.
Dig it. One of my first fav bass pieces. I actually liked Geezers tone even more when he used the Dan Armstrong bass. But, that's me.
