7-String Soprano Bass

@turindev a few questions for you:

I know Derek over at Big-D uses a lot of Angelus dyes, what was your opinion of those? How well did they work? What all did you have to mix them with, or was it straight out of the bottle? Etc. I'm eyeballing that specific brand for a future build that will also be some half decent flame maple.

Holy crap, why didn't I think of the resin with mica dye fret dot thing? Any final thoughts on that process? How hard was it to keep the resin out of the grain around the dot? What was your process there?

I really liked them! Not terribly expensive, easy to use. I did a TON of testing on scrap for both builds to figure out what I wanted, but it was pretty straightforward. I used straight out of the bottle dye. On the Green Flame one I did a black base coat that was sanded back. On the ocean burst I just did the turquoise in the middle, light blue on the outside, then faded them together.

It went really smooth! The epoxy is really thick so it doesnt sink into the maple grain. It might be different with a more open grained wood, but so far I have only done maple. I applied it prior to any sanding, let it cure overnight then sanded it flush. From there I just followed my normal sanding regimin.
