70s jazz vs 60s jazz for cutting through the mix

Do you prefer a P bass to a jazz? If so why?

No...not prefer.
I love both
But a Precision has a particular barky sound that only a Precision can

I feel like the 70s spacing can offer a brighter, more attacking sound than the 60s. I strongly feel that the in-the-mix/cutting through placing in the sound is mostly a result of the player, and then it would probably be affected by EQ, and lastly the sound engineer, either recorded or live.

Ime the 60s needs some eqing and hard attack to pop through.

WAY too many variables to answer meaningfully. You'll get nothing but biased opinions to this question, Just for starters, there is NO standard definition for "mix" (does all music sound the same?). No standard definition for "muddy", etc., etc.
