My faithful 72 Precision's pickups have finally quit on me and my luthier said they have to be replaced. I want to retain as much of the original soud it has as possible. I feel that over the years the pups have sorta mellowed and my bass has a very warm, deep tone.
My luthier has 2 suggestions for me--
1.Replace with Fralins or Lollars
2.. Have the originals rewound
My questions are 1.Fralins or Lollars for closest original sound?
2. If the orginals are rewound will it change the sound?
3. If I have the originals rewound what does that do to the overall value of the instrument should I ever sell. Should I just replace the pups and keep the originals in a box? Any suggestions or help is appreciated.
