I'm looking for the rarest vintage color (other than Shell Pink) for a '64 Jazz Bass before I buy one. Has anyone brushed up on their vintage Jazz Bass colors? Input would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not a big fan of the metallic colors, that's what the hardware is for.

I don't like metallic colors because I don't want my guitars to look like a piece of metal, it's lacquer, it should look like a car. I quess I'm looking for the rarest out of these colors:
o Daphne blue
o Surf green
o Dakota red
o fiesta red
o foam green
o sonic blue
o Olympic white
o candy apple red

out of the colors that you listed above, IRRC foam green, dakota red and daphne blue would be the rarest on a '64 jazz bass. (i've never seen a daphne blue one since they it was a more common color used on their '65 mustang guitars as well as dakota red).

CAR & Oly white were the most common of the custom colors back then (as well as black and lake placid blue).

I'm not into the vintage colors persay but I love antigua.
That one is interesting...and has less green then some of the others I have seen.
