800rb fried....now what? 3 weeks until tour!

Frankly, I would favor another 800RB if that's what you dig with this act. I used my SVT-II into 810E with one band for close to a year and then I used the 1001RB-II in it. The GK ended up winning out over the Ampeg and the Peavey AlphaBass by a mile. I wanted aggressive, angry, naturally scooped bass tone-like a Ric or a Jazz played hard with a pick. It wasn't as fluffy as the Ampeg but it was louder,deeper, and clearer. The Ampeg was like a comfy wool blanket that just wasn't warm enough. The GK, a new comforter.

That's pretty much how I've felt about modern Ampegs too.

Sticking with what I know makes sense....but part of me wants to move on.

The GK tone is great. that's for sure.

I've pretty much settled on the Trace Elliot V-Type 600h.

I'm fairly handy with this stuff....but I don't really have the time at the moment to fix it before we leave.
I suppose I can try and bring it as a backup.

Randomly finding a new amp and a backup is a real pain.

I've been searching and searching.

Found a Trace Elliot V-Type 600h (or at least that's what GC said....I have a feeling it's going to be a 300h (5001)) :(

Hopefully that works out. Should be here tomorrow.

Found a $700 (shipped) SVTIIPRO.....but skeptical about buying a tube amp that big and having it shipped. Plus with tubes in unknown condition.

Also found a Trace Elliot AH1200SM for $540 shipped.

Otherwise the market is void of any good deals. lol




Literally 14 business days until our first show of the tour and I don't have an amp.
I need something fast!
