800RB or SVT-III Pro?

OK, so far the only testing I've done on it was on top of the guy's Ampeg 8x10. For the test, I turned all the filters off, set the eq to flat and boosted the mids just a bit. I hooked up the footswitch he included and added some boost, and did some other minor tweaking. I can now sincerely say, that the 800RB makes the 3-Pro look like a Crate BT50 in terms of volume. As far as tone is concerned, very cool. It holds the note together when you hit it hard, but you can also get a controllable amount of dirt with it as well. I also like the fact that it's almost Markbass-size; very portable amp!

I couldn't find anything wrong with it. It's extremely well-made, very solid, fantastic tone, very versatile, just a really impressive amp. Then, when I'd been playing it for about 45 minutes, this little voice came in my head and said "Trade your 6-PRO for a 2001RB!!" and I said, "no! no! I'm poor enough as it is!"

Sooo yeah. definately a good amp!

I don't think you can go wrong with the GK. I traded my Eden in on the GK700RB back in April and have been delighted with it. I find with the GK that its much easier to dial in a bass sound I like.

As for the Ampegs, I've tried a bunch of them but found all but the most expensive models not very loud in comparison to their stated power ratings. I have no idea why but I let my ears guide me.
