Chrome is chrome plater nickel silver
Raw is nickel silver with no plating of any kind.
Nickel Silver also known as German Silver.
Raw Nickel Silver can be cleaned up with 000 steel wool and has no finish that can wear off like gold chrome or nickel plating
For bass the sound effect of the magnets is how it effects the low end. Ceramic being punchy , Alnico being warm with nice body and Neo being full powerful bass with a flat EQ. Neodymium is kinda like A5s big brother. With bass pickups gauss is very important.
The Guild pickups came with very weak ceramic magnets. The Gauss levels were so low I wonder if they are lower than C5. The factory coils were wound to 11k of 44. The Neodymium conversion with 5k range of #42 should really wake up these pickups 3x the gauss.

Working on some soapbar designs. These are Bart BC sized. Prototype of simplified Bi Sonic / Dark Star designs. We had custom seven string guitar Alnico 2 magnets cut and are long enough for a 67mm blade version of this bass pickup. Might be able to make a 5 string but would need to mock one up and check gauss readings at each end of the blade.

Bart BC 4 string Bi Sonic/ Dark Star with 67mm blades done. Turn count for 6.4k is archived. 1/8 U.S. steel wa used for the blade. These prototypes were built for a simplified Bi Sonic design in soapbar. These are also wound in RWRP in case someone wants to use them in hum cancel.

You can order whatever resistance you like. The Neo P are usually in the 10k / 8.5H range. We have winds ranging from 5k to 10k.
I've been out to lunch for quite a while now and also have not been getting notices from Talkbass.
Just saw this thread for the first time today after being off Talkbass for some time.
Glad to see Matt continuing to add more and more pickups to his arsenal of goodness to offer.
I have a 916 Thunderbird pickup with Neo.
The Peavey bass that I had it in was sold this spring but I pulled it out and put the Taiwan made Thunderbird pickup back in it before I put it up for sale.
I have another bass body that will get the Matt Kustom 916 Neo T-Bird in it.
Not sure yet if it is going to get a second 916 T-Bird in the bridge position.
Just wanted to say that the 916 made T-Bird Neo pickup is my favorite T-Bird pickup and possibly my favorite bass pickup period.

Neo/alnico. It's got more thickness than a good 60's Gibson Thunderbird pickup.
It sounds like a T-Bird pickup, but is a bit fuller/warmer like when a Thunderbird is paired with a good old school tube amp.
When Dimarzio created the Model P pickup I felt the same way about it compared to many Fender P pickups at the time.
A Duncan Quarter Pounder P ends up sounding boomy trying to beef up a Fender P pickup, this pickup doesn't have that problem.
I am a big fan of the EMG Geezer P pickup and the Dimarzio Model P pickup...at this point I think I like this pickup better than both of those.

Ordered some steel to machine the parts for Gibson / Bill Lawrence Ripper bass pickups. These can be installed in EB , EMG35 and Humbucker. The bobbins are mini Humbucker bobbins so max width on string space is right around 53mm. If anyone has been looking for ripper tone feel free to message me
