Does 53mm total spacing work out to ~17.5mm between each string? Also is the humbucker sized guitar HB sized or like BC sized?
brilliant thank you. bummer I don't like narrow string spacing because I found a few ripper demos on youtube and that bass sounds unreal.
I don't think barts will work. The steel arrives today. After i get one together i can see what it drops into.
Very nice pair of bases. Is there much of a difference between the P bass and the singles?
Yes, they sound different, but related. The Ps sound like Ps, but more detailed and focused. The single coils sound like there is a preamp even when there's not.
Installed the Neo P pickup.
Small con: the shell is slightly larger than standard. First bass I tried has a genuine Fender pickguard, and the pickup shell did not quite fit in the cutout. I did not want to trim that PG, so put the pickup in another P. Second P has an aftermarket PG, and while there wasn't any extra space, the pickup shell did fit, just.
Lots of pro: Looks sharp with the offset poles. Great modern growly rock sound. Louder than heck! Had to switch the pad on on the amp.

I'm thinking Matt is making the best pickups in the business, and he is coming with models that a lot of the other companies aren't really trying too hard to market.
A lot of pickup companies want to make Split P pickups, J pickups, 51P pickups, and Stingray pickups for bass and call it a day.
Curtis Novak made a Bi-Sonic and everyone went crazy, which is great.
Matt is making all kinds of off the beaten path pickups and often adding the option for Neo magnets into the mix.
Pretty cool.

Exactly. He had me at Super Ferrite, but man, all these new variants are awesome! Must - Stop - Building - Basses
Its just not possible to have the perfect size for everyone's situation. Fender has multiple different genuine fender. Genuine USA , Japan , Mexico , China. There are also various p covers. USA , Japan , China maybe some korea or Indonesia , who knows with global companies. Fender Japan has very thin covers and if someone calls for P pickups for a Areodyne i just say NO because they wont fit.
No worries from my end--it's sounding great in the bass where it landed. Thanks again.

Maybe a Guild BS-1 BiSonic (Hagstrom Bisonic, Guild Starfire, and Darkstar) pickup that is better than the new Chinese made Guild one, and doesn't cost what a Novak BS-DS does. I shouldn't knock the Novak, it's a great USA made pickup.
I am going through this right now. I bought a Peavey Foundation S (PJ configuration) body and Peavey routed the pickup holes a bit funky and I have six sets of covers I've bought trying to get a good fit and it is surprising how much variation there is in split P covers and in Jazz pickup covers.
Would you like EB replacement Bi Sonic

You are a very busy man.
I am currently in purge mode.
I have to lose a half dozen bicycles, a bunch of kiteboarding gear, several snowboards and related gear, and a few longboard skateboards.
I've gotta sell four more bass guitars (gets me down to two), two spare Hipshot bass bridges, two Hipshot bass tuner sets, an EMG stacked two band Pre-amp, a Seymour Duncan Basslines Pre-amp, and at least a half dozen bass pickguards for Peavey and Fender and Squier basses.
I still have a couple hundred record albums from the 60's and 70's that need to go.
I got rid of around 1200-1400 record albums over the last decade or two.
I've still got about 1500 CD's but they are small and light and I cannot reduce my music collection to only what is on hard drive, I just can't bring myself to do that.
