A $1,000 power cable?!

This is not for us. It is for hifi nuts. I used to be in that crowd, except I used my ears, not the price tag to judge the quality of sound. I have had very heated discussions about the merits of such cables. Myself, I went as far as making my own, shielded power cables with parts cost up to $40-$50 at the most. I guess I wasn't entirely immune.

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] ($11000 power cable... you have to admire the name of the shop in that context)

As you can see, the "you get what you pay for" dogma has its extremes. I guess I am weird, since my purchases almost invariably try to put that dogma to shame (seems like I try to get more than I paid for).

Makes you wonder, though, is really price an indicator of quality... And if it sometimes is, when does it stop to be that?

Much about the parts and pieces that go into Shunyata products can be seen in the descriptions of other cables on our Site. When it comes to the Anaconda Alpha Helix - rather than blandly listing the sum of its parts - we prefer to let the superior craftsmanship, ultra-flexible form and startling performance speak to its quality. Shunyata = Sanskrit for 'emptiness'. Just sayin.

I'm just going to put this out there...I don't want a power cord that lists 'startling performance' as one of its attributes.

I prefer not to be 'startled' by any gear I wantit to function in a regular and predictable fashion.

To be fair, that price is for a PAIR of cables. ;)

Best part about it is the manufacturer thinking their cables are cheap. Wow!

Shunyata's Anaconda Speaker Cables are intentionally designed and priced to compete with much more expensive cables. Rather than follow the price-inflation theme that has become common in the cable industry, Shunyata is committed to offering its signature performance products at real-world prices. Anaconda speaker cables are designed to deliver the ultimate in technology and fidelity at a reasonable cost.

Am I nuts or isn't a par of speaker cables for $7200 @%#@ing insanely expensive? Some people are bat$h!t cra-cra!!!

Let Odin feed your system and get ready for improved noise floor and resolution, increased transparency, dynamic range and freedom from grain, more believable sound staging, more natural life and musical dynamics, a breathtaking range of tonal colours. Suddenly the music will step away from the system producing it, taking on a life of its own, becoming a real performance – all because the power on which your system depends is cleaner and arriving quicker.
Just as I’m getting really comfortable in the halls of Valhalla, what should happen along but Odin. And he doesn’t just arrive – he kicks the doors in, demanding attention with such commanding presence as to establish immediate authority; that’s the thing with Gods – they know how to make you sit up and take notice.

Agreed. Audiophiles can be nutty. Having said that, why not get the best cord if you are already using $25-40k poweramps?

Price is only somewhat an indicator of quality. And when does it stop? At the point where it's blatant thievery.

From econ class I remember the thing about the marginal return on the dollar increase in price declining, as the price rose.

Soooooooo...I figure this power cord's marginal return is asymptotic to zero, all the way up there in price.

Ok, so can we all agree on the following:

Power cables – As long as it ain’t getting hot, its good enough. (less than $20.00)

Speaker Cables – Same as above, thicker the better 14 or 12 gua. – good quality connectors a plus. (less than $50.00)
