I love pointing out to people that buy expensive power cables that the electric company that installed the power lines to every building where you live went with the lowest cost wire supplier.
Which is certainly true.
Also consider this: electric utilities distribute their electricity over hundreds, sometimes thousands of miles of wire in the power grid. They have extensively studied AC power distribution (for over 100 years) because at the voltages and currents they are running, any inefficiency means wasted power, lots of wasted power, which costs them big money. So to minimize power losses (and maximize their profits) do they use some exotic super-duper wire? Nope...they use regular stuff. You won't find any electrical power transmission experts buying into "snake oil".
