A $1,000 power cable?!

I love pointing out to people that buy expensive power cables that the electric company that installed the power lines to every building where you live went with the lowest cost wire supplier.

Which is certainly true.

Also consider this: electric utilities distribute their electricity over hundreds, sometimes thousands of miles of wire in the power grid. They have extensively studied AC power distribution (for over 100 years) because at the voltages and currents they are running, any inefficiency means wasted power, lots of wasted power, which costs them big money. So to minimize power losses (and maximize their profits) do they use some exotic super-duper wire? Nope...they use regular stuff. You won't find any electrical power transmission experts buying into "snake oil".

Yes, but all the electric company is interested in is profit, so they deliver low-quality power, same as the county delivers low quality water. Just like a Brita filter, the high dollar cable is necessary to filter out impurities.

What all you guys fail to understand the real problem with this is that there are apparently professions in the world where you don't have to know jack about science or engineering nor have the smallest measure of critical thinking and you can still make more money than any one person reasonably needs. Otherwise there would not be a market for this junk.

Yep, too bad I have a conscience, otherwise I could cash in on some junk marketing too.

Of course, it doesn't help that I don't have the personality to be a salesman; I couldn't sell ice water in the desert.

Sorry to see everyone so disappointed in my statement about the Glock power cord. I have read the scientific viewpoint, and it all makes sense. I certainly didn't expect to hear a difference, but I did. Maybe the placebo effect works even when you don't want it to. Regardless, I won't discount this as a factor... But I'm sticking to the fact that I heard a difference. If it defies science, or merely confirms the placebo effect... I can't say. And by the way, the cable is $89, not $1,000.

You made up for it by saying nice stuff about Greenboy's cabs. ;)

I use one of these for my DAC in my stereo system and I think it helps. It is quiet and give me a better sound stage.

I'm sure it's as good as any other power cord. After all, without a power cord you'd get no soundstage at all.
