So, after the St-Patrick's week slaughter, I've made enough money to buy that 55-02 I was talking about.

And thanks to Basspraser, I now know that Amber is available, so I'm
a) pretty happy, and
b) off to the music store.

I'll let you know when it comes in. I'm *definitely* too late for the April shipment, so I'll be sitting on my hands and re-reading Basspraser's upcoming amber 55-02 review (hint, hint) over and over for months.

roadkill2309: Congrats!!!! I hope you can get the 55-02 of your dreams! I am counting down the days - should be 3 weeks or less until I get to put up a review and - most importantly pics of Amber......:hyper:

when you order, I would be interested to see how long they are estimating the wait to be....:eyebrow:

6-8 weeks!??? You must be getting in on the tail end of the order coming in! I agree that you should expect to wait longer and be extreemly happy when it comes in early!!!!

as for the gig bag - don't know - I always get hard shell cases - mine is supposed to come with the Lakland case (not sure the manufacturer)...maybe others can chime in on gig bag preferences....

PS - I guess we will be fightin' for the first review slot! remember, the first one on line with pictures is the "winner".....not that I am childlishly competitive or nothin'....

Not sure about the Profile bags. The Lakland bag is nicely padded and has two good sized pockets - main and one at headstock. It's made by Levy's. Two shoulder straps. Decent.

I used to be hard case or nothing when I toured alot. Now I only have gig bags and one semi-rigid case for my basses. Wouldn't make sense for me to have a 5 lb amp and a 25-30 lb case+bass. That's just me.

Maybe you guys can give me some guidance.

I love the 70's Jazz tone(Geddy, 75RI), you know the tone... growl.

I've heard the DJ4 has the 70's spacing, thus has mucho growl. I dig.

However, I find that the bass isn't as round/focused/punchy as a humbucker or P and it tends to not cut as nicely when playing fast.

Soooo.... the 4-94 (w/ lakland electronics), my number one concern is the growl, does it get that 70's growl? I'm fairly certain it will be quite a bit punchier than the Jazz, thus sounding better with 8ths or 16ths, but not having that growl would be a major let down.

Is the 4-94 a safe bet? Or should I pick up the DJ first and wait on a 4-94 as my band is not playing live YET.... and probably wont be till next winter.

I know one thing.

Last saturday, I had a gig. A new sound man ( which we don't usually have ) did the sound during the concert. All he said to me after the show was:

"- hey man, that's how Bass should sound like, I never heard a better Bass Tone than yours, and I have been doing this for a long time."

I was running my Lakland DJ4 through my Little Mark 2 and 104HF cabinet. Nuff said.

Lakland has been my choice since I grabbed one.
