I know one thing.

Last saturday, I had a gig. A new sound man ( which we don't usually have ) did the sound during the concert. All he said to me after the show was:

"- hey man, that's how Bass should sound like, I never heard a better Bass Tone than yours, and I have been doing this for a long time."

I was running my Lakland DJ4 through my Little Mark 2 and 104HF cabinet. Nuff said.

Lakland has been my choice since I grabbed one.

I have been getting similar comments on my DJ4 - people used to compliment my playing, but NOT the sound....now I get more "sound" compliments and not as many "playing " compliemnts....hummmmm......

Basspraiser: I guess the fact that no-one knows about the amber works in my favour. I was told 6 to 8 weeks. I have elected to expect the 8 months I was quoted for non-amber ones, just in case. I ordered the Lakland gig bag, though they had a Profile bag there that had a tonne of pockets. Any ideas on which I should go with?

I just got an e-mail response from Brian Gingrich at Lakland that we are "on target" for an Amber delivery in April! He would not get more specific than that!!!!!! I cannot wait!

I just own an humble 55-01. When I bought, I was originally considering purchasing a Warmoth and building it myself, but when I did the math, it was cheaper to buy the 55-01. I can't say enough good things about that bass, and the one time that I contacted Lakland for support (no problems with the bass, just a technical question) Michael Lakin emailed me back himself; that just impressed the hell out of me.

JOEY SQUID - I have been heavily contemplating converting my Glaub to a P/J configuration - would your recommend it? was yours direct from Lakland or did you have it converted later? also - last "stupid" question - what is your control set up?

I got this fretless Skyline JO4 from TBer Eggman a while back. I've superglued the fingerboard, got a new pickguard, and added a pickup cover.

You can kind of see in the bottom pic where I messed up with the superglue and it looks kind of milky. I'll probably sand it down and redo it at some point.

DJ4 passive, Natural black pick guard. Light weight, great neck. Wish it was active. At the time I bought it, I thought a 4 string passive was what I wanted.

Great looking bass! I REALLY wanted to offer for that one, but my wife would not allow me to (she said I had too many basses already!).....super glue huh? how do you do that? I would assume that it would dry too fast to allow you to do anything with it.....

It's not quite as easy as Dan Erlewine makes it out to be, but it wasn't that difficult either. You really want a radiused sanding block if you're going to do this, though, and you should have compressed air handy to blow away the dust. (I ran out of the compressed air toward the end, which is why I have that cloudiness.)
