I just picked up my first Lakland. Got it last night, it's a Pearl White DJ4 with a Jennies Black Pickguard and Nordstrand P/U's. It's the first one I've ever played so I was taking a chance on it and like it alot!

Yeah, I changed my icon the same day I posted that pic.....both from the same gig. The previous icon had been up for years, and I had sold the bass in it 2 years ago, so I thought it was time for a change....

I'll agree partially, only because I'm not really a fan of white pickguards. A pickguard in a different color would look killer, though.
If I ever get a Lakland in the 4401/4402 body style, I'm definitely getting a pickguard to slap on it.

I LOVE this bass. Everything about it is incredible. The light weight, the great looking body grain and neck figure, comfortable small-ish body (I'm used to a full size J body) and the TONE! Holy Bejeezush! This is my first P bass, and I can't get over the tone. It's currently strung with Ernie Ball Slinkys, IIRC. I've been thinking about trying some TIs on it, but I think I want to keep this as my "Roundwound" bass. Anyone have any suggestions for a good set of rounds?
Also, eventually it will be shipped back to the Lakland factory to have a Fralin J bridge pickup installed, with the electronics changed to two Volume/Tone controls.
I currently have GAS for a Pearl White DJ5. I can't decide if I would rather have a Rosewood board w/pearl inlays or maple board with pearl inlays. With my budget (or lack thereof) I'm at the mercy of the used market anyway, so my cosmetic preferences don't matter too much.

2000-ish Skyline Hollowbody in Inca Silver, strung with Lakland Flats, Bart 'buckers.
It's passive, so no dipswitches
But, the 'buckers are switchable for single or dual coil.
I run dual coil, with the pup selector in the middle, neck pup volume on full, bridge pup volume at about 80%, both tones rolled back to about 75%.
This yields a huuuuge fat woody tone! Also, I really like the satin finish on the back of the neck...
Yes, it's a Koeran made Skyline. Fit, finish and playability are on a par with anything else I've ever played, and I love this bass dearly.
I sold a Casady hollowbody to buy this, and have not regretted it for a single second. It bests it in all aspects.
I'd like a 55-02 at some point.

I plan on buying a Skyline JO5 very similar to this, except with a black pickguard.
